With its completely analog design, great care was also taken with amPlug's gain circuitry. The "AC30" uses two natural-sounding gain stages to reproduce the distinctive AC30 tone. "Classic Rock" uses four classical gain circuits to deliver that great sound. "Metal" uses two stages of ultra-high gain plus a mid-cut circuit, giving you modern metal high-gain sound anywhere and anytime. Even the circuit response of the original amp is simulated completely. The simulation extends not only to the response of the tone circuits, but also to the way in which the high frequency and gain are affected when you turn down the volume control of the guitar. Every detail has been faithfully reproduced.

amPlug can be used in numerous ways

With up to fifteen hours of battery life, it's easy to take amPlug anywhere. In addition to practicing at home, it's a great way to warm up before a live performance or on the road. And amPlug is not just a convenient way to get great guitar sound. There's also an AUX input jack so you can jam along with your CD/MP3 player.

I had a [$] gift card at samash and after an hour of looking around a salesguy pointed me in the direction of the vox metal plug. He said they had arrived the day before and he tried it and like it so I gave it a go. I freaking love this thing!, I use it to practice before gigs and for song writing. I can play while my wife watches tv and i wont bother her a bit! The best part is that i can plug it in to my mac through the headphone out and I can record some serious guitar tone in garageband, that made my money worth for me!!! Im about to go up to SA and buy the AC30 (I was checking it out and decided to write this review). anyway, go get your own!

I've been playing guitar for 4 years and I've always wanted to get a mini headphone amp. [...] because it was Vox, I thought it would be good and it really was. It has a nice distorted sound that's good for all kinds of metal. It's easy to use and would be great for someone like me who would like to practice during my breaks at school. It has an awesome sound for something so small and the price makes it well worth it. I just wish that it was more versatile in which there would be a mid,treble, and bass controls instead of just tone. Overall it is quite good and I'd like to try out the AC30 version next.

This little thing was recommended to me by a Sam Ash employee and it has far exceeded my expectations. A very good tool for learning new songs or practicing without the noise of trial and error. I use the Metal version and the tone is just as good as any high gain amplifier. Definately one of the best accessories I've ever owned.

Could Be Easy To Break

I cant believe the sound that comes out of this thing. I got the metal version, plenty of gain and distortion. Very controllable. Great tone. I was worried it wouldn't plug into a Strat, no problem! For 40 bucks, this is a no brain-er, a real hoot! Great stocking stuffer! It does look like it would be easy to break, but again, the price is right.

The Vox amPlug is an awesome product. I use it for practicing at night to avoid buggin' the neighbors. I own the AC30 and the Classic Rock amPlugs and both are great. The AC30 offers the most versatility in tone / sound, but both products are great. In comparison to a Vox Valvtronix AD30VT, the sound is just the same on the amPlug. The folks at Vox did a great job on this product. For [$] dollars, I got much more than I expected. I would definetly recommend you buy this, you will not regret it. I still can't get over the great roaring sound these things put out. Vox rocks!
