The Zoom Q3 is a portable, handheld device that shoots high quality video with an audible twist; positioned on top is a pair of high-end condenser microphones set in the popular X/Y configuration. These are the very same mics found on Zoom’s popular flagship handheld recorder, the H4N.

You can easily capture rehearsals, musical performances, interviews, and tape conferences for video podcasts. Use it for journalism, education, recitals, weddings or sports. Your video is recorded in high-quality, MPEG-4 SP format at 30 frames per second with 640 x 480 resolution. The Zoom Q3's large, 2.4" LCD screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 makes it easy to view your work right on the spot. The display also includes audio level meters so you can quickly and easily set and monitor your sound levels while you shoot. Zoom’s auto record level feature is on-board and automatically sets the audio level for perfect sound every time.

The Q3 sports a built-in USB cable that lets you painlessly upload your movies to your computer. Use the included HandyShare editing software to edit and share your masterpieces on your favorite websites including YouTube, Facebook and MySpace. You can also plug in the included TV cable and watch your videos on television. The Zoom Q3 comes with a Windscreen, Carry Pouch, 2GB SD Card, AV cable & two AA Batteries.

The product is real easy to use. Very user friendly. If studio time is out of your budget and the Q3 is not, GET IT!!! I have my own group and i've actually used the Q3 to record our songs during a jam session, transfer them to MP3 files (with a different program) and put them on myspace. We used 3 120 watt amps powering 2 guitars and a microphone (For vocals) and a drum kit with the Q3. The Sound quality is definetly studio quality. The lighting on it isn't to good but you can update the software and it has a lighting setting on it that works pretty well. I take this thing eveywhere i go.

This baby has wonderful sound recordings! The video is a plus for me. I enjoy useing this product. It is extremely easy to use! The video is just fine( in well lite rooms) for messing around. I record in a pratice room and outdoors and everything comes out great! This is a wonderful tool to use and pratice with to just see and hear how everything is going with your music.

My band was in need of some media exposure via those typical online social networks. I had experienced others attempts at that with horrible sonic results. The quality of sound that was lacking made bands using lesser means indecipherable..and it sucked. The Q3 is a godsend to YOU-TUBE and MySpace viewers and bands alike. Now with one take you can achieve that which others have only attempted. Great quality stereo sound and descent video documentation to share with the world. Now why would any self-respecting musician continue presenting themselves garbled and distorted for the world to judge them by and not get the only thing out there that will make them shine with beaming clarity!!

I expected the sound to be good, coming from the zoom family. I already had the Roland Edirol for that. I actually thought that I could get two for the price of one here, wrong! Sound recording, Great! Video, lighting, Sucks! In a club environment, forget about capturing musicians/vocalists unless they are in a well lite room. Gonna sell it and get a Flip HD!

This product does what it's supposed to: record great audio with decent video. I have used it on gigs and in my studio. It has excellent audio (I can't tell the difference between tracks on this and my Zoom H4N). The video is decent, but at VGA it is rather low end. The battery use is rapid - the manual states about 2 hours use and this is correct. I recommend rechargables because you will go through them rapidly. Fortunately, the power adapter Zoom recommends (but does not include) is the AD14, same as the H4N.Get one so you can edit without worrying about battery levels.
Low level lighting will not allow any video - either bright lights or outdoors works best. I tried recording a jazz group in a restaurant setting and it would not show anything but amplifier pilot lights. In another locale, room light did provide enough light to record. you'll need to experiment to find appropriate levels.

I am pleased with the performance of my Q3. I wish it had more video capability, but as it is it meets my needs for simple recording and editing, and effortless You Tube uploading.

Had this preordered for about a month. And I must say, it's well worth it. How many video cameras do people go through that have such horrible sound recording? Most sound like you are crumpling a piece of paper over the mic. Not with the Q3. The audio is so crisp and clear. Plus there are multiple audio modes to save it. The video is very high qaulity for Youtube/myspace/facebook uploads. The software that comes with the device is so user friendly, an infant could do it. Seriously. For the price, you totally can't go wrong.
