Well to begin i am a little over 12 year experinced dj from miami. I have hade several dj sets from passive to active sub and pa cabs. So far i have had the evs for a little over 4 months. They were great at first! Sound great could unload the event my self and my hole set is digital so clarity with this equipment was not a problem after mabey the first month and about 14 to 18 events one of them had to be repaired. Called ev [...]Ev sent me to one of there repair centers witch was far from were i stay. turn around time was about 3 weeks so i had to rent speakers for the mean time. not an isue ev stood behind there product and no bill was issued to me. great asked what happend asked if it was my missuse. both were replied as a no. By the way the problem was the balist to controll the amp distribution in the speakers. they told me a common problem with the larger series sence they use the same amp as the sxa 100. then two weeks later my highs on the othe went out. same problem but took 4 weeks cause chemicals were involved in it. got it back and the speaker ran ok menaing the both had lost some spark to them. now mabey 3 or 4 weeks ago both took a [*] again. one has the highs out the other has the lows out. now i also cary two 18 in subs from eve to control the built in crossovers so minimal bass is ran throught the highs and lows on my sxa 250 but i still have this problem. not to reliable if you ask me. kind of disapointed. I guess they where not ment for high volumes of events. The constant abuse gets to there built in electroncs and distroys there insides but the speakers and amp and highs are still great. i love there sound just upset that i spent so much on a speaker that has not held up to its value of realiability it was set out to! so if you handel large volumes of events beware. but i recomend ther 18 and 15 in subs they are great. And if you dont mind mix match the makie srm 450 ver 1 not the new v2 they are great with the lows from ev they make a great pair cause my makie is still kicking very strong! Just dont get the v2 makies the have new verry cheep driverws in them that have to many flaws.

These speakers sound so amazing. Crystal. CRYSTAL! I am running mono sub with 2 of these bad boys and this is a heart pounding beat thumpin leg humpin sound!!!! I love it.

Hey! This speaker is awesome. I bought one after learning the hard way that Behringer makes god awful speakers. I realized I needed to invest more $$$$. So I looked to EV, cuz I heard they made some rad stuff.
I've heard these used in a PA, and they sounded great. The voice was crystal clear. The guy just so happened to be a very bad singer, but I was able to hear his bad singing very well.
However, I use it for my keyboard workstation when my band plays live.
SWEET!! It brings every voice on my keyboard to life! The highs sing like angels and the lows growl like thunder. And i go mono through one speaker, cuz I'm broke. And it's still way loud enough and wayy awesome sounding. The only bad thing is that it's heavy, and I'm skinny. Bad combo. But a lot of speakers are much heavier. Including the piece of junk Behringer that I wasted my money on. But anyway! This EV sounds amazing, and at every show we play, I get compliments on how awesome my keyboard sounds and on how good looking I am.

My purpose for writing this review is cuz everyone who writes reviews for this thing does it from a PA/DJ background. So I'm letting you know that keyboards sound just as orgasmic through this thing as voices and DJ jams do.

BY FAR THE BEST POWERED SPEAKERS I HAVE HEARD NOT ONLY ARE THEY POWERFUL BUT THEY HAVE GREAT SOUND.
I HAVE USED JBL, HEARD MACKIE EVEN PASSIVE SPEAKERS WITH A AMP CAN'T COMPETE, I RECOMMED IF
YOUR BUYING SPEAKERS YOU MUST AT LEAST LISTEN TO

I bought a pair of these speakers at the national DJ convention this past summer. I have used them about 12 times now, 3 of those events indoors and the rest out doors. In all situations where I've used the speakers I have been more than pleased. Indoors the speakers have a crisp, bassy sound. Out doors I turn up the lower horn and the speakers fill up an entire football field still sounding great. No need to have a sub woofer. My only complaint about the speakers. They are HEAVY!!! Need two people to get them onto a stand and then raise then stand.

I work for a DJ company that has over 40 DJs in it. I have listened all a lot of different setups, but the EV SXA250s are the way to go. The eons and Mackie SRM450s are great for high end sounds, but when its time to kick up the bass for the party, they come up short. You need a sub to bring the full sound. I have assisted several DJs using the EV for weddings/events over 250 people and we have had to turn the bass down on them. You don't need a sub. The added 10 lbs from the EONs or Mackie's is worst it considering your have to carry a 80lb sub with them to get what these EVs bring to the show.

I had a side-by side comparison of Mackies, Eons and the SXA250's. I spent the additional money to get the bigger 15's knowing the plastic of the other brands is subjective to heat from the amp and will become brittle over time. I have nothing but compliments on the sound coming from the EV'S and know I made the right choice from a manufacturer that has been making speakers longer than these other two.

"just bought these for my electronic drum set (yamaha dtextreme lls). had originally purchased a hartke keyboard amp but it wasn't up to the task. was able to return the hartke and use the credit toward 2 ev sxa250s. they make my drumset sound like a drumset. great lows and midranges but most exceptional are the highs- my cymbals sound clean and crisp, like real cymbals. i was questioning my purchase of the electronic drumset, but with the evsxa250s i'm even more thrilled with the drumset too. easy to set them up too. was up and playing a few minutes. relatively easy to transport- not too big nor heavy."
