I've been playing technical metal for 7 years now and learned on a 7 string guitar (Dragonforce, Necrophagist, Jason Becker, ect)
pros-
thin neck and deep cut out makes playing fast extremely easy,
neck is set low in body so switching from picking to tapping is easy (great for sweep picking into tapped arpeggios),
pick ups produce a bright tone good for recording,
wammy bar comes in handy (can make that trill sound when you slap it that dragonforce and necrophagist do a lot) and fine tuners are out of the way,
looks cool,
lightwieght,
stays in tune well,
pick up selector is very easy to use when playing live,
cons-
extremely weak harmonics in middle pick up position! i've tried adjusting the pick up height and string height and still when playing in middle position the harmonics are barely audible. my $400 schecter guitar plays loud harmonics at all three positions so i can't see how a $2,700 guitar could screw that up.
i can feel the bolt on neck when playing higher on the neck. it does not interfere with my playing but it is uncomfortable and abrupt. also makes the guitar look and feel cheap. i'm told neck throughs usually sound better and have better sustain but i don't own one so can't comment on that.
cost is extremely high for a common alder body and bolt on neck with a graphic- you are paying for the Rusy Cooley name!

i played one of these the other day and its twisted. im not a fan of EMGs, but they sound brutal with that low b. the frets are HUGE!! rusty's not kidding when he says "the biggest frets out there", they are unbelievable. the graphic looks awesome, the cutaway is so great, really lets you get up to all 24 frets, the OFR stays in tune well, and the neck is amazingly thin for a 7 string. idk if i can justify paying [$] for a guitar, but if i ever were to spend it on one, this would be it. if you get the chance: PLAY THIS GUITAR!

Best 7-String on the market currently. Plays perfect, has the best pick-up's in my opinion, thinnest neck and ebony fretboard. Also made in the U.S.A. Perfect in every way.....

I've owned several high end Dean and Ibanez guitars and this is by far the best ever. It is a true screamer. The fastest guitar and the smoothest playing. If yiu are looking for the ultimate metal guitar this is it!!!
