I have wanted an upright "UEB" for a long time so when I saw this bass (it's quite handsome) at the under $600 price point i snapped it up.let's start with the worst point. The case is a joke. It looks good but it is so insubstantial it can only be made of cardboard. This case is hopeless from the cloth covered cardboard to the loose foam filler blocks and it doesent fit well either.Now the bass. It's advertised as having an 18 volt preamp. the sample i saw in the store had one however the bass that arrived had no preamp just a single volume nob and thats it.the neck radius is only 6 inches. ok, i understand they wanted to make it less challenging to play and more like an average base so no bowing and thats too bad they kind of dumbed down the instrument.Workmanship is kind of marginal. as I said it looks good, very austeer and minimal. Definatly turns heads and give imediate stage cred. but the tuning machines are cheaply made. most troubling is that the A string binds against the wood going into the head stock. Obviously very little planning went into this instrument and I'm afraid that permeats the whole thing.OK, what do you expect for [$]bucks. lets just say I expect a little more.It's a fun instrument, I sounds pretty good I don;t feel too bad about it. If you must have an EUB and can't go $900 it's ok.
