Comments about ESP LTD TA600 Tom Araya Signature Model 4 String Bass (Black):
This is quite possibly the best bass I have ever played. Everything is perfect. My only beef is that it doesn't come with a case, which at this price it should come with AT LEAST a gig bag.

Comments about ESP LTD TA600 Tom Araya Signature Model 4 String Bass (Black):
I've had this bass for a little over a year now, and I couldn't be happier with its performance. I initially was going to go with a Rickenbacker because I love the tone, and I figured I would sit down and try out a few others to make sure. I ended up sitting down with this bass and there was no question that this was the one to buy.
First the Pros: The fastest neck I have ever played on. It almost feels like a guitar. The neck is long and the frets are big. This makes the bass feel very open and accessible as opposed to a jazz bass style which feels cramped and claustrophobic compared to this. The pickups are very hot and the tone is punchy. To put it in lay man's terms, this is a great bass for metal. Not a warm tone, but a full tone for sure. The electronics are great. It still sounds like it did when I first plugged it in. There is no shifting in the knobs. This bass is great at staying in tune. The bridge is a great setup, and the tuning heads are probably the best I've ever used. The cons: Some minor fret buzz. This actually developed over time, so I think if I had it professionally serviced, this could probably be eliminated. Not a versitile tone. This bass was made for metal, and not much else. The tone is thick and punchy, but not very warm. This probably has a lot to do with the pickups, as a maple neck should give a thick, rich tone.
This has been my only bass for over a year now. I practice with it, write with it, and have used it for every gig in the past year from the 50 person bar show to a 1000+ concert crowd, and I have complete confidence in it's ability to get the job done. Like I said, it is made for metal, so I wouldn't suggest it for anything else, though I think it would do well for punk and hardcore as well. So far, it has been worth every penny.
