I have been playing drums for over 40 years. I purchased these drums today for my 3 and 5 year old grandchilden to play in our music room.

From the minute I opened the box, I was very impressed! The construction and finish were of very high quality. In fact, the Wine Red set that I bought matched my Cherry Stain Ludwig Classic Maple jazz kit nicely. And after I added an Aquarian Kick Pad to the bass drum and some Moongel muffling gel to the snare drum and toms, this little kit actually sounded like my kit . . . but on a smaller scale.

The hardware was very sturdy. I was surprised to find that it even included memory locks on the tom holders! The only improvement that I suggest is that it would have been great if the ride cymbal was 12 or 14 inches instead of 10 inches and if the high hat cymbals were 10 inches instead of 8 inches.

Overall, this kit is well worth the money. They are real drums, but on a smaller scale. My 3 and 5 year old grand daughters each played and sang along to Taylor Swift's "Love Story" about 5 times in a row. I think that I have two Karen Carpenters in the making!

I Just got this drum set for my 3yr old son and he love's it. I also like how it looks and sounds great for the money [$]. When I started to put it to gather, there were no instruction's on how to assemble it. But that was ok. I just went online to Ludwig.comand went to (SUPPORT) and then to ( SET UP AND PLAY VIDEO) . got it together in about 30 minutes.

This set is a great inexpensive set for a beginner like my son who is three years old.

A huge set up from the garbage they sell at [...], etc., name brand you could resell if your child changes their mind. Set-up will be made much easier for novices if you follow the directions at Pearl drums website, as no instructions are included in the box. Heads great to get pounded on for a while, by the time they wear them out, they'll be ready for good heads. Same for the undersized cymbals.

it's great but it's hard to tune and reccomend that you buy different heads

having no manual was a pain, but at ludwig's website they have a 20 minute on line video of how to set up a pro kit and you can pretty much figure it out from there. Put a pillow in the kick and leave it open - very boomy unless you do. Snare is tight and loud and toms are very good for a kit at this level. Cymbals are a little cheesy, but my 6 year old thinks they're great. Might consider upgrading these.
