Today the pro standard for conversion is 24 bits and 96 kHz. Unfortunately, this category of converter is plagued by dramatic differences in sound quality from device to device. Though often attributable to vendors’ proprietary algorithms, the problem is in many cases the poor quality of the converter’s analog section. Sporting not one but two independent 24-bit/ 96 kHz AD and DA converters built by AKM, the DI-Mod 24/96 enables different input and output sampling rates. Acting in perfect harmony with these state-of-the-art converters are control and filter circuits developed by MindPrint®’s braintrust of engineers. Every signal path in the DI-Mod 24/96 is the shortest possible distance between two points. Designed by audiophiles for audiophiles and engineered with painstaking attention to detail, this converter ensures optimal level matching and maximum dynamics sans digital artifacts.
The Panel
Digital Out: Both channels of the converted A/D input signal are routed out here. Connect this port to the digital input of your audio workstation.
Digital In: Digital input designed to convert the digital output signal of your audio workstation into an analog signal. The converted D/A signal is patched directly to the DIGITAL IN of your MindPrint device. In addition, this signal is also routed to the ANALOG IN/OUT monitor (stereo ¼" jack).
44.1, 48, 96 Button: This button selects a sampling frequency of 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz when the DI-Mod is operated exclusively as a A/D converter or is not receiving a valid digital input signal. If on the other hand a valid digital signal is inserted into the digital input, the DI-Mod adjusts its sampling rate so that it corresponds to that of the incoming signal.
Auto/Master Button: If you set the DI-Mod to MASTER, the device will operate with ist internal clock and its sampling frequency is determined by the 44.1, 48, 96 button. Set to AUTO, the DI-Mod is locked into sync with the signal routed into its digital input. The device automatically adjust its sampling frequency accordingly.
Locked: This LED lights up as soon as the DI-Mod recognizes a valid digital signal at ist digital input.
