I wanted a compact travel bass and this fit the bill without breaking the bank. I had to try several examples before finding one with the fit/quality I wanted, but searching paid off. The biggest downside to this instrument out-of-the-box is that it uses a cheap Strat-style pickup (6 pole pieces vs. 4 strings), but a quick swap, using a Duncan Cool Rails fixed that. Now there's a pole under each string! While in there, controls were replaced with quality US versions and now I have a great little instrument.

I bought this economical short scale bass as my alternative to lugging around a standard length electric bass. I use a double gig bag with my electric guitar, which I bought at Sam Ash. I replaced the pickup with a Duncan Quarter Pounder; replaced the wiring, volume & tone pots, and had a bone nut and a new pickguard on it and angled it like a bridge p.u.p. like you'd see on a Fender Strat. Mine reminds me of Johnny Ramone's black Mosrite. All you need to do to go on the cheap is just replace the pickup with a Duncan Quarter Pounder and you'd still have an awesome instrument for the price! I'd recommend playing with a set of round wounds and then switch to flat rounds and use a bass pick instead of using your fingers if you're trying to get that 60's sound. The only thing that limits you is your imagination! Sam Ash rocks!

im a guitarist and bought the bass for jamming and song writing. its not as great as my jazz bass but for the price, the looks (i bought the red one) and the sounds not too bad, its a great deal. the short scale almost makes it feel like a guitar. overall its just a fun jam bass to mess around with, wouldnt recommend it for serious bassists.

This is a tight little bass. It feels smooth and solid, and sounds great. The pickup had virtually no noise when I recorded with it, and the tone was full and punchy. I enjoy playing short-scale basses, probably because I'm primarily a guitar player. In my opinion, every home recording enthusiast should have a Bronco on hand.

And with all that, it's dirt cheap!

I got this along with an effects pedal for Christmas and I love It, although I have to use my Dad's amp.

"I'm a guitarist who pulled ""bass duty"" when someone had to drop out of several practices... and this is a great guitar for someone who isn't a full time bassist, but needs to be productive in a hurry and on a budget. The sound isn't the best--you get what you pay for--but for practicing or just trying something different, it's great and a lot of fun."

"I use it to write bass parts for my songs and its a great match for a person who regularly plays guitar because of the shorter neck. It is easier to play than the full scale ones. I would not recomend using as a gigging bass if you are a full time bassist because it doesn't have as great quality as the Fender basses. None the less this is a great bass, for beginners or guitar players."
