The first review for the Blues Jr is from 2001. The most recent review is from this year. Should tell you something. Amps come and go, but the Blues Jr remains in circulation. Why? Because it offers a 5 tube combo amp with a 12 inch speaker which emits pure Fender 50's tone at a reasonable price. I know because I got mine at Sam Ash's Huntington,LI, where music reigns. If you are looking for a multichannel amp with numerous dsp effects and amp models, pass the Blues JR up. It has but one channel and offers only reverb and a midrange boost via a FAT button. However it delivers warm, honest sound, which will bring out the best in your guitar. Use the guitar's controls and/or an effects pedal if you want all of that. For the money, this amp is a good value

I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. The truth is that a quality tube amp of ANY wattage and size will be expensive. And while an Orange Tiny Terror is suberbly voiced, it also lacks some of the basic features and control you'd expect in that price range. So Fender provides a nicely equipped tube amp solution for a reasonable price. The 3-band tone shaping, spring reverb and foot-switchable boost give you good control off the bar. The sound is clear and shimmery. You CAN'T expect a pounding bottom end unless you go through a cabinet. The main problem with this amp is that it does NOT deliver its warm tone at very low volumes, which was the reason I got it in the first place. I run an ART Tube MP preamp after my pedal chain to attenuate volume and saturate my power tubes. That does the trick. If you ARE able to dial in the preamp and power tubes at least beyond 2 or 3, then your tone will be just fine. Overall, this amp can deliver warm tone, packs generous features, and is extremely portable at only 24 pounds. Upgrades and repairs are easy to find and inexpensive - it's a good choice overall.

It does as advertised, but just misses its target. If you like the sound of worn and arcing tubes, distorting a sun-damaged and torn speaker than this is for you. Low volumes it is very clean and truly sings, past 3-sounds like any cheap old [$] amp

I used to use the Fender Blues Jr.in conjunction with the Fender Hot Rod 4x10 combo amp when I used to play out in clubs. I would A/B between the two and use the Hot Rod 4x10 as the distorted amp and the smaller Blues Jr. 1x12 as a clean only amp. Toward the end of the night with my ears getting tired I remember thinking that this amp was pretty weak regarding stamina being that it is only 15 watts. But after all it was going up against its bigger brother a 4x10 60 watt all tube amp. So, I stopped using it and put it away for another day. Well, today is another day and I love it! I use it only as a clean amp and I run a Pod XT or Pod X3 into the front input. It sounds absolutely wonderful and I love that it is all tube which warms the sound wonderfully. In fact...I love Line 6 gear but I've suspended using my Vetta Head for the time being to work with the sounds in the Line 6 Pod floorboards along with the Fender Blues Jr. It's much easier to take to practices or small to medium sized gigs. Plus, the wattage and or volume is totally fine when running the processing gear in the front end......I always have plenty of overhead for solos or volume swells. Also, the "FAT" button is just enough boost for soloing over the top of the rest of the band. However, I would recomend using a footswitch for live application of this boost function. There is a output for this on the back panel next to the speaker output.

Speaking of the external speaker output I've sometimes used a enclosed 2x12 cabinet which bypasses the internal 1x12 Fender speaker and that really brings out the fullness in my tone.

Fender and Line 6 have come together for me in a perfect way. Right now I couldn't be more content with my options and tone.

"My long search for a 1x12 combo amp was worth it when I found the Blues Jr. It has great tube tone, high volume, and it's lightest tube amp I've ever lifted. I play a Gibson Les Paul through it and the warmth is incredble. Mic the amp with a SM-57 and you're good to play anywhere. If you're thinking about dropping $800ish on a Vox combo, consider the Blues Jr. ; it's like half the price. "

"I bought this as a practice amp, but I find I'm using it more than my Line 6 Spider 112. It's got great tone and plenty of volume. I haven't been able to crank it all the way when I practice. I belive this will do the job for all gigs depending on the room. ( you may have to mic it for large rooms.) I really like the fat sound, the clean setting is good too! I play all styles of music thru it and no problems. The reverb could be a little stronger, but I don't play gigs anymore and it's fine for me. It's a great sounding amp and all tube. Try it you'll like it."
