You are looking at a Gibson Vintage 1965 Firebird V Electric Guitar, serial number 504541. This is the actual guitar you will receive should you decide to purchase. (7 lbs, 10 oz.)Dating from late 1965, this vintage Firebird V (Serial No. 501541) is in all-original condition, including case, and free from solder breaks, repairs or modifications of any kind. A nice lightweight example of one of Gibson’s most awkward looking models. 1965 introduced the “non-reverse” body style, and “non-reverse” headstock. Right-angle tuners replace the “Banjo” pegs on earlier models. The “new for 1965” Gibson Firebirds bore almost no resemblance to their older brothers which went into production just a few years prior. Other significant changes to this model year included the narrower 1 9/16” nut width. The neck gains some heft towards the higher frets and is reminiscent of late ‘60s SG models. It has a one-piece lightweight mahogany body, as well as a one-piece neck. Despite some significant buckle rash and scratches on the side near the input, this Guitar is in great playing and cosmetic condition. A Brazilian rosewood fingerboard still sports the original frets, with plenty of life left in them. Giving this bird its attack is a nice powerful pair of alnico mini humbuckers, able to coax tones from mellow lows to ice pick high. A great playing, unique sounding part of Gibson — and American — guitar history.
