Save Hundreds Over Rentals!

By

from Las Vegas

Staff Reviewer

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Case and Mouthpiece Included!
  • Durable
  • Simple

Cons

  • Heavy
  • Prone to Needing Adjustment

Best Uses

  • Beginning Trumpet Players
  • Concert Bands
  • Gigging Pros
  • Marching Bands

This is a solid, durable, affordable option for beginners and those working on a tight budget. Valve action is good, and intonation is fair (until you hit extremes in pitch range). This horn can keep hundreds in your pocket by eliminating the need for monthly payments, interest fees, and insurance charges- AND you'll have the built-in equity of a fully-functioning student horn when the time comes to upgrade! This is just the wisest way to go in the long run.

Can't beat its price.

By

from Las Vegas, NV

Pros

  • Cheap, sounds like a trumpet

Cons

  • Thin metal, cheapest brass composition possible

Best Uses

  • For students that are short on money

I wouldn't ever recommend an instrument that goes for this cheap but if you are careful and maintain this horn to the best of your ability the thin metal won't be a problem. Also be careful never to accidentally ding valves at all as they are composed of cheap metal as well.

Overall would give this 2 out of 5 but since it goes for half of what other cheap students horns go for I'm giving it 3 out of 5.

I'd highly recommend going for the entry level jean baptiste horns at the least if you can put in the extra hundred dollars because the extra hundred will go a long way including increased resale value for upgrades.

Best Economical Horn

By

from Torrance, CA

Staff Reviewer

I've been playing trumpet for 14 years, and aside from holding a degree in the instrument, I'm also a huge gearhead. With that being said, the price point made me very curious to try these when they first hit the shelves. My main complaint about student horns in this price range is that the high register is usually incredibly stuffy. Not with this horn! There's a healthy amount of resistance up there, but it doesn't back up like others do. Kudos to the builders for figuring out how to work this kink out of the design!

Why Rent? Buy New for Less!

By

Pros

  • Crazy Low Price
  • Decent Tone
  • Quality Build

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Backup Trumpet
    • Beginner
    • School Band

Benjamin Adams have been on a roll with producing entry level affordable instruments to begin learning the craft. The TP100 gives little reason to rent an instrument. The build is sturdy, and the instrument sounds fine for a beginner piece. The only reason left to rent is due to the unavailability of this one because of dillydallying! Get your aspiring student a new trumpet!

    Great Start

    By

This trumpet is great for anyone looking to pick up their first instrument. The horn plays far better than most other trumpets in this range, allowing new players to dive head-first into music without breaking the bank or giving up quality. The case and horn are also quite lightweight, great for kids.

    Dont rent anymore!

Its always better to own an instrument than to rent it when you are a student, this lets you own at about the same price as what you would pay to rent. Great looking, well made trumpet. Comes with case and mouthpiece. Comfortable and easy to play.
