The Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass V (five-string) is a value-priced version of the world famous Fender Jazz Bass guitar.

The Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass V has the look and tone that everyone knows and loves, at an ultra-economical price point. Ideal for modern bassists who require an extended low end reach, the highlight of this bass are the growling and punchy Jazz Bass V pickups. The single-coil Jazz Bass V pickups are designed to deliver modern tone and performance from five-string basses with famous guttural midrange and singing high end.

A top load bridge creates a slightly "slinkier" feel by reducing the break angle of the strings over the saddles. The individual saddles can be adjusted for precise intonation along each string. A strong one-piece maple neck enhances vibration transfer from the strings while the rosewood fingerboard offers an elegant cosmetic touch.

Features:
  • Maple neck with "C"-shaped profile and rosewood 20-fret fingerboard
  • Dual single-coil Jazz Bass pickups
  • Vintage-style five-string bridge with single-groove saddles
  • Case not included

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass V 5-String Bass Guitar:

I just bought this yesterday as an upgrade from the Squire Bronco bass (previous review left), and I am more than satisfied! The neck is not as wide as you would expect for a 5-string making it easy to play and not hard to adjust if used to a 4-string. After only a day of playing, the strings stayed in tune. I love this guitar more than the Bronco. The only change I will be making is the same as my previous model: changing over to flat wound strings. The price is perfect and you will get more than you pay for. One last note, being a jazz bass (slightly larger), you may notice that it fits a little tighter in a soft case as compared to other models. I will be getting a different case soon.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass V 5-String Bass Guitar:

This IS a real Bass. I am 54 years old and have been around the block a couple of times. My other bass is a real '65 precision bass not the vintage re-issue. This bass is comparable to the original. The negative comments I've seen regarding the Squier do not seem to be true for me. It weighs only a pound more than my precision, the pickups perform well even on the B string and it seems to stay in tune. This is not the bass with active pickups. That one did seem very heavy in comparison. Since I have never used active pickups I see no need for them. my Ampeg BA210SP handles it just fine including slap and pop sounds. The price is only a bonus.
