The Sony MDR 7506 Headphones are an industry standard large diaphragm foldable headphones.

Headphones are a personal choice. Some sound wonderful while others feel fabulous. Some are clinically revealing whilst others are purely entertaining. Some are big and bulky while others are slim and trim. Over the ear or in the ear… Really, the choices can be staggering.

All hail the Sony MDR 7506 Stereo Headphones! These industry standard darlings help cut through the muck and bring you true high-fidelity sound in a portable, collapsible headphone design.

Multiple pairs of the Sony MDR 7506 can be found in the most prestigious recording facilities, as well as chart-busting project studios throughout the world. The quality-constructed collapsible design also makes them indispensible as a field recordist’s or videographer's dream solution for private monitoring and yielding an honest full-range reproduction of sound.

Plug the MDR 7506 into your iPod or any portable MP3/music-playing device and prepare yourself for an obvious leap into the world of high-end quality. They’re light and comfortable so you’ll still enjoy wearing them even after hours of listening.

The Sony MDR 7506 Stereo headphones collapse tidily into the included soft carrying bag with raw string. The coiled “old school” telephone-type cable allows some give when stretched and comes equipped with a gold Unimatch plug for versatility.

The wide frequency response dips to 10Hz up to 20kHz so you’ll miss nothing in the reproduction of the music or spoken word. The Sony MDR 7506 headphones are tried and true, and it’s no accident that they have been around for a while. They still maintain a loyal following, regardless of recent entries into the market, and remain a barometer for all other headphones in this affordable price range as the ones to beat. Speaking of beats, don’t miss one and pick up a pair. Listen as your ears smile!

Any time I need to properly monitor audio I accept no substitute. Whether in the studio or out in the production field, this is the only thing most pros use.

Comments about Sony MDR 7506 Stereo Headphones:

I have been recording music professionally since I opened my studio in 1985 and have used the Sony 7506 headphones religiously to this day. The issue of the ear cups wearing out is easily overcome by simply taking some ear cups off a set of old cheap headphones and putting them over the ones on the Sony's ear cups. I bought 4 sets about 15 years ago and they are still in perfect working condition. The extra cups help isolate external noise better too.

Comments about Sony MDR 7506 Stereo Headphones:

Bought these to use in my home recording studio. I compared them side by side with several other brands of headphones in this price range and I was impressed by their superior clarity and solid bass response. They clearly sounded better than all the others. Once I got them home, however, some issues began to emerge. The earpieces fold up inside the headband for compact storage or travel; unfortunately, they often fold up when you don't want them to, like when you are taking them off your head or trying to put them on. Also, after I had them about a year or so, the vinyl covering on the earcushions began to fall apart; within two or three months it just disintegrated, leaving the foam padding underneath exposed, and thus compromising their ability to isolate unwanted outside noise. I tried to get some replacement earcushions from Sony but they were on backorder, and after waiting for a couple of months I just gave up and cancelled my order.

Bottom line, these are great sounding headphones for the money, but if durability is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere.

Very good headphone, I play drums and keyboard and had use it as monitor and wow the difference. Good price for the quality. Only problem i had was that the ear pad got unglued when I left it in my car for a day, that was my fault but already ordered new pads from Sony.

"I needed to replace some headphones in my project studio so I bought the Sony MDR-7506. I found them to be a little bright (I mean in a good way). The top end seems to cut thru clearly - cymbals and hi-hats, hi string sounds, lead sounds all seem to ""pop"". I would have liked a little more bass but this is my taste. Glad I bought 'em."
