The Hip Pig is a killer, modern drum with tons of vintage mojo. No fooling, this thing really is hip.

The Pork Pie Hip Pig Snare Drum has a warm, lush sound that is reminiscent of some of our favorite vintage drums of yester year. This is largely due to the 8-ply Nyatoh shell. Nyatoh is a very interesting wood that has a similar density to Maple, but shares many of the same tonal qualities as Mahogany. It is capable of everything from crisp highs to booming lows, and everything in between. The satin lacquer finish gives this drum a classy, timeless look that is sure to impress.

This snare also features 8 dual-ended, beavertail lugs on the 5x14" version, and 10 lugs on the 6.5x14".  Beavertail lugs give this snare a legendary look that has graced some of the most sought after drums in history. The 2.3mm hoops provide a bit of extra weight, which helps keep the drum in tune longer. This also gives you a sharp, defined rim-shot that needs to be heard to be believed. It features Pork Pie's standard throw-off for precise and accurate snare tension that won't let up after extended periods of play.

Outstanding snare

Comments about Pork Pie Hip Pig Snare Drum:

This snare sings! This snare drum has very similarities to a maple and a mahogany snare. When tuned up, this has a overtone filled crack, and when tuned lower, the snare produces a very sensitive lower body punch, with still a few overtones and enough snap to make it stand out even at lower volumes. Very versatile snare drum. Just recently picked one up to play in my blues band and even the rest of the band thoroughly enjoys the sound this snare drum has. Fits really into any genre, and has the versatility and sound to support itself in all situations. The price is also a jaw dropper, for something of this caliber. Amazing.
