The Model SM7B dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response appropriate for music and speech in all professional audio applications.

The Model SM7B dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response appropriate for music and speech in all professional audio applications. It features excellent shielding against electromagnetic hum generated by computer monitors, neon lights, and other electrical devices.

The SM7B has been updated from earlier models with an improved bracket design that offers greater stability. In addition to it's standard windscreen, it also includes the A7WS windscreen for close-talk applications.

Features:

•  Flat, wide-range frequency response for exceptionally clean and natural reproduction of both music and speech
•  Bass rolloff and mid-range emphasis (presence boost) controls with graphic display of response setting
•  Improved rejection of electromagnetic hum, optimized for shielding against broadband interference emitted by computer monitors
•  Internal "air suspension" shock isolation virtually eliminates mechanical noise transmission
•  Highly effective pop filter eliminates need for any add-on protection against explosive breath sounds, even for close-up vocals or narration
•  Now shipping with the A7WS detachable windscreen, designed to reduce plosive sounds and gives a warmer tone for close-talk vocals
•  Yoke mounting with captive stand nut for easy mounting and dismounting provides precise control of microphone position
•  Classic cardioid polar pattern, uniform with frequency and symmetrical about axis, to provide maximum rejection and minimum coloration of off-axis sound
•  Rugged construction and excellent cartridge protection for outstanding reliability

Comments about Shure SM7B Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

This a great mic to have for any purpose especially for small budgets. I have used for vocals, miking electric guitars, acoustic guitars it has worked flawlessly and the sound quality is over the top. Its been used on many Grammy winning tracks!

Comments about Shure SM7B Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

This is truly the diamond in the rough I've been searching for for decades. [$] may not seem like 'rough' but this quality/price is unprecedented in my experience. It's upper freq detail made my 414 sound dull, yet it's a relatively darkish, round, full tone. I checked 'limited functions' because you may not always have the tremendous mic gain available to drive this power starved dynamic capsule. A Zoom H4n, for instance, could not provide sufficient gain. I've read blogs claiming the manuals state it requires 'slightly' more gain than an SM58. Not on this planet. In the studio though, you should be fine. I've used the Neumann TLM, (about $1000). I don't remember it being as well behaved as the SM7b.

Comments about Shure SM7B Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

The SM7B (with a tube preamp) is the mic I used on recent commercials for national brands and a university with acclaim from the producers and clients. It has excellent presence without the hard edge on the high end I have experienced with the popular and much more expensive Neumann TLM 103. Rick[@]

Comments about Shure SM7B Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

Huge Diaphram, stealth grayish black paint, and cool cool cool microphone adjusting bracket mount. Nothing cheap here...... SM7B is the mic that restored my sense of control over vocal recordings which simply ran out of control with overly sensitive, siblant and way too loud Condensors. Of which, tend to overload most pro mic preamps at the inputs with their ridiculous dynamic ranges (increased noise floors too). This Shure Microphone does for rock voice what the Lengendary SM57 does for electric guitar cabs and drums. Just simply tames them, and beautifully captures material into rich detailed audio for your recorders or live sound reinforcements. SPL handling is second to none, If you are LUCKY ENOUGH to get an SM7B, A/B it against any top pro condensor out their for rock or gritty male vocal applications. You will be suprised like I was that the expensive boutique microphones thousands and thousands dollars more, go right back where you got them, in the mic closet. I definately swear by this microphone. Go Shure, you won't go wrong. Compared this to Nuemanns and AKG 414's - Shure hands down winner for vocal scenarios.
