Quality, versatility, and value make the Samson MTR231A Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone one of our best selling studio condenser mics.

SAMSON MTR231A -- Quality Versatiliy, and Value
The Samson MTR231A studio microphone is a versatile studio workhorse for recording vocals, instruments, as a room microphone and more. With three selectable pickup patterns, cardiod, omnidirectional, and bidirectional, the MTR231A can pick up an entire room or reject ambient sounds and focus only on nearby performers.  If you need for studio quality mic priced right that can handle virtually all miking situations, then the Samson MTR231A is for you.

Three Selectable Pickup Patterns
The MTR231A has two large, 1-inch gold-sputtered diaphragms with three selectable pickup-patterns – cardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional - to meet any recording challenge. Your recordings will sound great with the MTR231A's smooth, extended frequency response and wide dynamic range. It also features an internally shock-mounted capsule to minimize handling noise and vibrations. The rugged MTR231A includes a pop filter, shockmount and protective carry case.

Perfect for the Studio
The MTR231A is perfect for handling a variety of vocal miking techniques. Use the cardiod pattern for any vocal performance where excellent rear-rejection is needed or use it as the "Mid" mic in a Mid-Side stereo setup. Whether recording a single vocalist or surrounded by an ensemble, the omnidirectional setting is ideal for capturing the ambiance of a great-sounding room. The bidirectional pattern can be used to isolate two sound sources, one or both being vocals (two vocalists, a singer-guitarist, etc.). And with a wide 20Hz–20kHz frequency response, the MTR231A can capture all the subtlies of a great vocal performance.

Instruments And More
With a wide dynamic range and the ability to handle ultra-high SPLs, the MTR231 is ideal for close miking a variety of instruments both live and in the studio. Use the MTR231A to mic guitar cabinets, drums, pianos, winds and other instruments. And all of the previously mentioned vocal miking techniques can be easily applied to all of these instruments given the situation and desired sound.

Features:
  • Dual large, 1-inch gold-sputtered diaphragm studio condenser microphone
  • Three selectable pickup patterns – cardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional
  • Smooth, extended frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz
  • Low self-noise, wide dynamic range perfect for recording

Comments about Samson MTR231A Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone:

This microphone sounds fabulous, and it was very affordable! I found the multi pattern mode very useful for group or room recordings, as well as a vocal mic in my booth. Sounds just as good as many of my more expensive microphones!

Comments about Samson MTR231A Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone:

The MTR 231 Condensor is a very versatile mic kit. It comes with the shockmount and pop filter, saving you some money as you get your first in home studio up and running, while also allowing you to trim the number of mics you need to start with by being a multi-pattern mic.

This means the mix can be set to OMNI Directional to record a bluesgrass band using the one-mic technique or a room mic for a drum kit.

It can be set to FIGURE 8 Mode to record a duet at the same time.

It can be set to CARDIOD Mode to be used as a traditional front address vocal mic or drum overhead.

It has a high enough SPL durability to be used for loud, distorted guitar amps or cymbal overheads, while being sensitive enough to mic a violin or quiet vocalist.

The Samson MTR231 is the Samson brand's highest end studio recording microphone, and wow is it awesome. The 231 is an amazing vocal mic, with a clean and clear sound right out of the box that rivals the Blue Microphone's BlueBird model. What makes this mic great is it's smooth and predictable respond over a wide frequency range, and the selectable pick-up patterns that allow for it to be used in a wide variety of environments and applications.

For anyone looking for high-end vocal sound at a low-end price, the Samson MTR231 is hands-down the way to go.
