The ultimate update for the classic NS10 studio monitors that defined generations of hits that defined real-life studio monitoring, while keeping with today's new sound and digital production challenges.

The terms “analog” and “vintage” seem to be the big keywords that constantly pop up in defining quality studio gear we know has always delivered  the natural sound we've always demanded, even while working in today's digital realm.

Modeled after it's predecessor and improved from there
Today's major facilities still rely on Yamaha’s historically famous nearfield studio monitor, the celebrated but now discontinued NS-10. It has always remained the epitome of  the term “industry standard.” They were seen, heard and photographed in thousands of world-class studios. Noted for their brutally honest sound reproduction and unflattering response, these ever-popular monitor speakers are still sought after to this day in spite of the fact that they’ve been discontinued. The old saying went, “If it sounds good on the NS-10s, it’ll sound good on anything.”

A 2-Way Amp for a 2-Way Monitor
Yamaha designed the HS series monitors with a special 2-way speaker set. A new woofer and tweeter, each powered by their own dedicated amps, giving the NS10-tradition of flat response that means that your mixes will have their deficiencies revealed so you can make accurate decisions throughout your mixing process. But, unlike the NS-10, the white polypropylene cone woofer and a newly-designed 1" dome tweeter have an extended range much more in-line with the demands of today’s low-end content in many styles of today’s popular music.

As analog meets digital, your vocals, keyboards and guitar solos can keep their natural place in the mix as they always have, while your sub-bass and ultra-highs get their chances to shine as well. This will enable your final mixes to translate accurately and honestly to the outside world...ultimately what the NS-10's were famous for.

100 Years of Solid Sound-Friendly Cabinet Design
The monitor’s enclosure is constructed of high-quality MDF material and a multiple layer finish that minimizes resonance. This is where Yamaha's century of experience in making pianos comes in handy, giving you a cabinet that properly handles the frequencies that pass through it. Even the corners have a special 3-way mitered corner design that provides strength and unity. The white woofer cone recalls the look of the classic Yamaha NS-10, adding low-damping rubber surrounds and full magnetic shielding so using them near your computer monitor screen won't be an issue. Around the back you’ll find both XLR and ¼” connections along with room control/frequency response switches that will tailor the speaker’s frequency output to your particular working environment. Very handy for less than perfect room dimensions.

With its famous heritage, full-range yet accurate sound reproduction and devastatingly handsome looks, the Yamaha HS8 Powered Studio Monitor is worthy of your musical masterpieces. Simply put, it ROCKS!

Comments about Yamaha HS8 Two-way 8" Active Studio Monitor (Single):

Yamaha an industry standard of quality has done it again. The HS8 is my personal favorite of the 8" monitors. I features a robust yet undeniabley transparent reference of your mix down. The goal of reference monitors is to no colour your mix or give inaccurate over tones. This monitor is so neautral if it were a country it would be Switzerland. If you have done the work in the studio and put a lot into your production ad recording technique these monitors will pat you on the back and let it shine through. If you have done a poor job these monitors will give you a brually honest representation of your flaws. I reccommend them to everyone.

Comments about Yamaha HS8 Two-way 8" Active Studio Monitor (Single):

These are excellent If you're looking for an affordable set of monitors that can handle low frequencies accurately. The problem with some less expensive monitors is the hyped bass. Everything tends to sound good when allot of bass is added to speakers that can handle it. This does not necessarily translate to other sound systems. What you are usually hearing is pleasant mild distortion. This is NOT the case with the HS8 monitors. What you hear is what you get.

I can't get over how phenomenal the HS line of Yamaha Studio monitors is. Whatever size your home or pro studio is, the sound provided by the HS8s will fill your space and impress some of the most sophisticated of ears. The lows come through incredibly powerful while not taking away from the higher frequency sounds for a beautifully crisp pure mixing experience.

I own a pair of Hs8's and a pair of classic Ns-10's. And the bottom line is if you mix on the Hs8's and it sounds good. It will sound good anywhere. I put these speakers against studio monitors that are well over 2 grand each and they hold their on. This is a hands on product review from Hodari @ Sam Ash Lombard

Comments about Yamaha HS8 Two-way 8" Active Studio Monitor (Single):

The HS8s are very similar monitors to Yamaha's lauded NS10 monitors. With very clear and accurate upper midrange response and good bass representation, the HS8s have secured their spot among the best monitors out there on the market today. Used by both pros and bedroom producers alike, these monitors are a great addition to a studio on any budget. Regardless of whether or not you have a pair of monitors already, the prevalence of these in the industry means that you will be able to hear your productions the way that a large number of other listeners will be able to, and that is an invaluable investment for any serious musician.

Mixing thru stereo monitors is by far the best way to get the best sound from your recordings.
These quality speakers from Yamaha feature a large 8 inch woofer and 1 inch tweeter for excellent sound reproduction.
Great transparency lets you hear how every instrument sits in the mix, allowing you to easily make the correct adjustments to get the best final result possible.

Comments about Yamaha HS8 Two-way 8" Active Studio Monitor (Single):

I have been using Yamaha monitors for over 15 years. And of course, I started with the Yamaha NS10s. They were horrible, but if you made you mix sound good through them, then is sounded good ANYWHERE. And they were designated as such. Well, yamaha certainly made waves with this HS8. It has very clear highs. A defined mid-range and because of the 8" woofer, GREAT lows. I just finished my 10th project with these bad boys and they seem to just grow with me each time. I did let them burn in for about 100 hours before using and that was a major factor in them getting the where i needed them. Disclaimer : Be careful when listening to your favorite music through them, you might hear things you never realized were in the music!
