The new MPK mini mkII from Akai Professional is an ultra-compact keyboard controller designed for the traveling musician and the desktop producer.

The Akai MPK MINI MKII Keyboard Controller lets you record, compose, and perform with virtual instruments, effect plugins, and DAWs  whenever inspiration strikes, giving you  a complete selection of hardware controls, including 25 velocity-sensitive synth-action keys, a 4-way thumbstick for dynamic pitch and modulation manipulation, 8 backlit velocity-sensitive MPC-style pads, and 8 assignable Q-Link knobs. To make it even better, the 8 pads have two banks, so you have virtually 16 pads literally at your fingertips.

Create with nothing in your way
MPK mini includes all the tools you need to work on your music, expand on your ideas and record them. Dedicated  buttons for octave choice increase the keyboard to the full  range and an onboard arpeggiator with adjustable resolution, range, and modes makes it easy to create intricate melodic lines with little effort. Plus, MPC Note Repeat and Full Level allow users to access genuine technologies from Akai Professional’s line of MPC workstations.

Maximum Portability
The MPK mini requires no software drivers or external power adapter. Plug-and-play with USB-MIDI, powering up with a single USB connection to your Mac or PC. Four memory banks give you plenty of storage for hardware/software presets to set up your computer and controller.

Software gets you going and keeps you moving
MPK mini comes complete with virtual instruments and pro production software so you can start making your music right away.SONiVOX’s Wobble is an electronic music grime synthesizer;  MPC Essentials is a groove/beat production and sample-triggering software, AIR Music Tech's Hybrid 3 is a high-definition analog and wavetable synthesizer and the MPK mini MIDI Editor is a powerful preset management application that lets you customize your hardware and software setups on your PC or Mac.

This controller is great. Small and compact but with endless uses. Great for smaller sized studios that can't have huge keyboards inside of it.

The Akai MPK MINI MKII 25-Key Compact Keyboard and Pad Controller is awesome for the price and portability. You can take it anywhere. The Drum pads are an awesome add on that a lot keyboards don't have in the lower price ranges. I highly recommend this product if you are a beginner or intermediate user. Comments about Akai MPK MINI MKII 25-Key Compact Keyboard and Pad Controller:

Akai has recently been coming out with some really awesome and useful hardware and the MPK Mini is no exception. The MPK Mini gives you 25 keys, 8 well designed Akai pads, and 8 assignable knobs all in a small, lightweight, and portable frame. It has about the same power as far as production as the full size MPK 25, but fits easily into a backpack making it possible for you to hash out complicated ideas on the move. Or, maybe you would just like a nice MIDI keyboard for you studio but don't have a lot of space. For $99 it doesn't get any better than the MPK Mini. Two Thumbs up!

Comments about Akai MPK MINI MKII 25-Key Compact Keyboard and Pad Controller:

                  This is the newest MPK.
The Upgrades notably include a Joy Stick for pitch and mod, A sustain input and a better USB plug. I love the feel of the pads as well.
If you're looking for something to pair with a laptop or even as an extra controller to have around the studio, this is a great value.
