TASCAM's most popular combination CD/Cassette recorder, the CC-222SLMKII, now supports a more robust slot loading CD transport with adjustable pitch control.

The CC-222SLMKII includes a RIAA phono input which allows direct recording from a turntable; a feature which sets the CC-222SLMKII above all the rest. Further solidifying this source-device's reputation for flexibility is its ability to be operated as two individual recorders; or, record one souce to both recorders consecutively.

It features digital I/O (coaxial and optical) for the CD and a set of RCA (unbalanced) analog ins and outs. The user can configure the ins and outs as two individual components or share the same I/O for both CD and cassette. The CD-recorder includes popular features such as Auto Track Increment, MP3 Playback, power on play, fade in and out, manual track increment, and a veriety of playback modes. Support for dual media has made the CC-222 series a mainstay in houses of worship, schools, theaters and other installations.

Comments about Tascam Slot Loading CD and Cassete Recorder:

The One-Touch dubbing of old music tapes to CD works great using automatic track numbering when selecting the "Level" option. Most of my tapes transfered flawlessly.

I also use the one Touch Dubbing to copy old tapes of Church Services. I find that it is best to set automatic track numbers for this type of program using the "Time" option. I set it up to mark a new track each minute. Having a track each minute is much, much better that having to fast forward or rewind a tape to find the right place. It is easy, also, to manually enter the tracks if you want them only at certain locations in the program, but I find that I can't sit there and get every track just right. It takes too much time, and any mistake you make is permanently on the Music CD-R. I use those because they are so much cheaper than Music CD-RW.

I've only had the unit for three weeks, but I'm "cooking with gas" now. All the mistakes I have made on the CD-R disks were because I was learning how to use the machine. I did find a few bad CD's that wouldn't spin up and record correctly. I had to call Tascam Product Support who told me what CD-R's to avoid, but I still use that brand. I find that all the CD's of that brand that will not record are the ones that are black in color!

Knowing what I know now, I should have started learning how to use the machine with Music CD-RW's so I could erase all my mistakes. I didn't know anything about recording CD's. I learned by reading the manual and trial and error. Unfortunately, all the stuff you need to know is not in one place in the manual so it takes some thinking to figure it out. Different programs require different copy settings in order to copy well.
