Stephen’s creative and distinctive style is a trademark of Jane’s Addiction, Porno for Pyros and his own group, Banyan. Pro-Mark was the first drumstick company to introduce oak drumsticks to drummers in United States, and remains the only drumstick maker to offer Shira Kashi oak drumsticks continuosly since 1957. No other oak drumstick can match the sound quality and superior craftmanship of the Pro-Mark orginal. Japanese white oak offers unsurpassed strength and durability. Extremely dense, it resists chipping and "wearing soft" when compared to other types of wood. Length: 16 1/4" Diameter: 0.531"

These are very durable and wont break quickly like Hickory sticks would. Their very quick and the round ball tip sounds great on toms. Just great sticks all around!

Comments about Promark 719 Stephen Perkins Oak Wood Tip Drumsticks:

Well, I dunno Stephen Perkins from Robert Redford, but his stick is perfect. Beats me how he stole my idea for The Perfect Drumstick... Pro-Mark's Oak sticks are astoundingly good, and for years my stick of choice was the Herb Brochstein. The Perkins seems to suit a bit better, particularly for jazz. Some complain the stick's coatings are too slick, but a light rubbing with 0000 steel wool just takes off the gloss without removing the finish. Anyway, if you're looking for a great stick and have graduated from the Firth 5A or Bs your drum teacher forced on you, this is a great one to try.
