The PRS SE Bernie Marsden Signature Electric Guitar delivers classic single-cutaway style and timeless tone that working musicians can afford. Order yours from Sam Ash Direct today for the guaranteed lowest price.

Best known for his work with Whitesnake, Bernie Marsden has built an impressive legacy with his blues inspired style. His versatility and longevity have allowed him to share stages all over the world with many top recording artists and touring musicians. His main guitar has been a Paul Reed Smith SE.

The SE Bernie Marsden Signature Electric Guitar is perfect for traditional single-cutaway players. The distinctive feature of this guitar is its 24.5" scale length. Most traditional single-cutaway guitars have a 24.75” scale. Though seemingly a minor detail, the .25” difference in scale length makes a huge difference in the overall playability. Players will love the ease of string-bending and effortless vibrato on the SE Bernie Marsden Signature because of the lesser tension created by the 24.5” scale length. The neck is carved from mahogany into a luxurious “wide fat” profile with a rosewood fingerboard and the familiar PRS bird inlays as standard appointments.

The body of the SE Bernie Marsden Signature is carved from mahogany, has a maple top and is outfitted with a pair of PRS Humbuckers that will deliver sustain for days on end as well as absolutely timeless tone, whether you are playing clean blues runs or scorching rock solos. You can shape your sound with a master tone volume controls for each pickup, and a 3-way toggle pickup selector. A PRS Stoptail bridge stabilize intonation and enhance sustain. Finally, a Deluxe PRS Gig Bag is included.

Comments about Paul Reed Smith SE Bernie Marsden Signature Electric Guitar:

First, a note about Sam Ash; I originally purchased a Squire Jagmaster for the short scale. That guitar had major issues with buzzing and reluctantly, I chose to send it back (that was the last Jag so there were no other choices). In an attempt to keep a customer happy, the guys at the online store really worked with me to find something else that would fit in with what I was looking for in a shorter scale guitar. So thanks Sam-Ash!

This is really a beautiful guitar and it just feels like quality when you look at it, when you hold it and when you play it! I was a little leery of the "wide, fat neck" but I had a chance to play a Santana model at my local shop before the purchase and I REALLY like this neck! It is a bit wider which I like, but I'm not seeing or feeling the "fat" part. Whatever...nice neck! The short scale allows for really easy, bluesy bends.
The neck pickup has a really nice, warm tone. The bridge pickup doesn't sound as rich and full by itself as the neck pup, but in the middle position with the volume pot down two from the neck, the bridge pup adds nice flavor to the mix.
The tone and volume pots feel like good quality and adjust well. The pickup selector switch feels solid and works well.

The guitar came packaged well. All strings were detuned 1/2 step. I tuned her up and checked the intonation and it was perfect on every string. The action and pickups may need some slight adjustment, but this is an easy job and can be done at home in 15 minutes or so. So the factory "set-up" was adequate but personal preference will fine tune the details. I'm not sure what to say about the bridge. It looks nice and I see screws that may be for adjusting intonation, but I'm not sure how they work. As my intonation is right on, I'll worry about that later if I have to.

So the "cons". The machine heads look a little "cheesy", but they work and that's what counts for now. My only real complaint is with the nut. The plastic nut was REALLY sharp on the edges! I moved from a D-major into an A-major and thought maybe I'd cut my finger on the edge of the nut. Five minutes with some fine grit sandpaper pretty much solved that issue (again for now) but I'd researched this guitar before I went into it and the nut is a common complaint (Are you LISTENING PRS?).
4.5 stars would have been a more accurate rating from me, but they didn't have 1/2 stars. So basically, a nut that probably cost a buck to build cost PRS a star!

All in all, I'm really happy with the PRS Bernie Marsden. And I'm happy with the customer service from the Sam-Ash folks!
So to summarize...I'm happy! (Now it's time to get more happy when I go plug her in again!)

Comments about Paul Reed Smith SE Bernie Marsden Signature Electric Guitar:

The guitar feels great in your hands and is incredibly easy to play. I've compared the guitar to Mexican Fenders and this guitar out performed them all. It has great sustain and the difference between the rhythm and treble is great. Despite being a light guitar it has a great, solid sound.
