OK, so I've had this thing for 2 weeks, I admit that I may still be in the 'kid with a new toy' phase, but I really dig this beast.
I play in a 90's rock cover band and needed to replace my (dying) Digitech RP200 that I've had for years. I decided to upgrade, and did some serious research for a new one and took a chance on this guy.
This box is well suited to that purpose. Mostly easy to program and change patches, and a nice wide variety of effects to choose from. The BigMuff preamp model sounds great; it adds a good level of ugly to some stuff without sounding tinny or honky.
Other notable effects are the decent compressor and the octaver. The Steve Harris preset is dead on if you play a P-Bass through a good rig.
I suspect this box would be also of good use to slap, funk and other bass players with a lot of highs in their tone.
The synths aren't of much use to me, but sound dang cool, especially when popped. There's about 3 presets that I've found that sound great with the 'For the Love of Money' riff. Fun env filters too.
When browsing the presets, I often turn into a wanna-be Flea.
A little-pushed feature is the (limited) MIDI note info send mode that it has. It's really clunky, and you won't be improvising, but you can pair it with a keyboard and play tones and chords like a Taurus pedal, or trigger loops on the keyboard into the computer. Plug into the keyboard, and the pedal can control a ton of stuff. Takes some work though. One of my few complaints would be that the layout of the notes in pedal mode is pretty lame, using a sequential pattern nothing like a keyboard or organ pedals.
Display is small but workable but the whole thing is beefy. The built in tube does add a bit of light warmth as well.
Overall, I don't think there's a bass multi box that is as useful as this. The only step up in tonal flexibility here would be the Roland V-Bass for complete control of your tone.

I was never one for effects on bass. After hearing this my mind was changed. Makes your bass sound great no matter what style of music you are playing. I use to get the right sound and feel for the song / style that I am playing - not to make my bass sound over "effected". To me the perfect effect pedal sounds great without sounding like it is there with the exception of some chorus effects and the like. Gives me punch when I need it, boom when I need it, and tames the "pop" when I play slap. I use it with a 4, 5 and 6 string bass and it sounds great on them all.
