The objective as the K Constantinople 14” Hi-Hats were being developed in the Zildjian Sound Lab was to take the previous models and evolve them closer to old sounding K’s of the 60’s which required a new way to manufacture them. A new hammering technique has been incorporated which allows the cymbals to open up with more dark overtones and nuances than before. A new ‘pin’ lathe has been added to the top and bottom which serves as an additional tonal groove which adds to the complexity of the sound. The new pin lathe also adds a new visual element which is very reminiscent of K’s made in the 60’s.
All of these improvements have been incorporated into the 14” K Constantinople Hi-Hats making them even more musical than before. They not only have that dark, crunchy chick to them but the overtones are more multifaceted and dense which only adds to the appeal of these classic and fantastic-sounding hi-hats.
