This was the second Hi-Hat I ever had,and It was bought so I could practice with thease instead of abusing my crown jewel hats.I was surprise to hear the sound that came out during practice(in a large hall)because it sounded differently in the Cymbal room where I bought them.Good bite,projection,appearance & strength.The only knock I thought was what I call a clangy sound when played open. It's not going to be a great sounding recorded(I tried) but,it'll get the job done in the other area's I mentioned. I believe this should be a beginner's hat but, to each his own.
