The incredibly realistic acoustic piano sound of the P-155 is the result of Yamaha’s Dynamic Stereo Sampling (DSS) technology. A 4-level piano sample is a huge part of how the P-155 achieves its powerful, expressive, authentic piano feel and sound. Playing naturally at varying velocities triggers one of the 4 samples per key. With a generous polyphony of 128 notes, you’ll be able to riff to your heart’s content without experiencing the note dropouts of pianos with limited polyphony.

Two 12-watt amps power a pair of built-in speakers, able to handle all the expressive nuances of your playing and filling the room with glorious Yamaha piano sound. Alongside the 2 stellar acoustic piano sounds, Yamaha has also included some other popular keyboard sounds to make the Yamaha P-155 versatile and gig-worthy. There are 2 Electric Pianos, Jazz and Church Organ, 2 Strings, Harpsichord, E. Clavichord, Vibraphone, Choir, Guitar, Wood Bass, Bass and Cymbal and E. Bass. They’re all taken from Yamaha’s sample library of professional sounds and are easily selectable by a touch of a button. Built-in Reverb and Chorus effects help to enhance the sound of the P-155 and are easily selectable.

There are handy, useful dedicated button controls for Layer and Split as well as Transpose, Metronome and Tempo function, all within comfortable reach on the top panel. A brilliance control enables you to adjust the overall brightness of the P-155’s sound. A 7-segment, 3-digit LED display keeps you abreast of the goings-on, easy to see even in dimly light settings.

Feeling creative? You can record your performances with the built-in 2-part Song Recorder. You can record up to 3 songs internally, each with approximately 11,000 notes maximum. Additionally, you can save up to 999 of those internally recorded songs to a USB storage device. You can also transfer up to 255 songs from your computer (including commercially available titles) using the included Musicsoft Downloader software. These transferred songs are stored inside the P-155’s internal memory. To round off the song playback options, you can also import Standard MIDI files (SMF) for the P-155 to playback. In addition, 50 piano preset songs are built into the Yamaha P-155 for your listening pleasure or as a practice tool.

Connectors around the back include a USB to Device terminal, L/R Aux Out for hookup to an amplifier or PA system, MIDI I/O, and jacks for sustain and AUX pedal (can perform multiple functions including Soft Pedal) and a DC IN 16V jack for the included power adaptor. 2 headphone jacks on the front of the P-155 allow for private listening for you and a guest or teacher and student.

Weighing in at only 37 lbs, the Yamaha P-155 is light enough to take on your next gig, making it easy to bring world-class piano sound to your audience.
