Twiddly Bits Gate Effects Standard MIDI Files
One of the most hypnotic and seductive studio tricks is the use of a noise gate to "drive" a synthesizer. Dance records from disco in the seventies to rave in the nineties have all employed this technique. You need a noise gate, a drum machine, and someone who knows how to set the effect up. And even then, only one such stuttering, "sequencer" effect can be produced at a time. Gate Effetcs offers this brilliant effect as simple MIDI data. Load a gate effect "template" into your sequencer. Match the MIDI channels of the template with that of your current sound, press play and hold down a note or chord. Now, whatever you play will be "gate effected" in real time.
