Not only is the rare quilted sapele used for this series visually different from the sapele used elsewhere in the Taylor line, its tonal response is also distinctive. These flatsawn sets have more flex, which translates into greater power and warmth on the low end. A premium European spruce top is the perfect complement, blending elements of Adirondack spruce’s robust output with a hint of cedar’s warmth. That tone profile makes an evocative wood pairing for nylon-string models. Quilted sapele and ivoroid appointments, including a diamond “Solitaire” inlay scheme, add elegant sophistication to the presentation.
Like the the ES-T, The ES-N is a single-source, under-saddle transducer, but the preamp design and tone controls were customized to complement the nylon-string voice. The standard ES control knobs enable plenty of tone-shaping and preserve the natural design aesthetic.
