TAMA ‘S.L.P.’ Sonic Steel 6-1/2”x13” Snare Drum delivers a wide range of sound as well as feel. For instance, when tuned high it creates a remarkable crisp, sharp and open sound. The smaller 13” diameter with the deep 6-1/2” depth creates a snare drum that can play in higher tuning ranges without losing its depth of tone and “fatness”, especially in this 1.2mm steel shell.
The nickel-plated steel shell drum is the beaded design with a round bead around its center, a design element found in several classic snare drums but sold at much higher prices than this excellent snare drum. The bead stiffens and strengthens the shell and internally disperses the sound waves, adding to the shells great response.
With its eight dual high tension lugs and Tama Mighty Hoops, this is a powerhouse and an an immensely strong snare drum. With its Brushed Black Nickel plating, it’s a beautiful snare drum, too, and its finish will look fantastic and fit in with any drum set.
