This fantastic and classically-styled Super Aluminum 5”x14” Snare Drum from the TAMA Sound Lab Project features a thick Aluminum 1.6mm shell with a uniquely wide internal 15mm flanged edge. Add to that a center bead and new Sound Arc Hoops, and the vintage style sound is enhanced by a new layer of crispness and sustain. It's also very powerful, which is a characteristic not typically found in generic aluminum snare drums.
A beaded 5”x14” aluminum shell has also been a very successful design for many years and has been the design basis for several of the great snare drums. This classic shell is joined by ten vintage-style dual brass tube lugs, which have little contact with the shell and enhance the drum’s resonance.
The chrome-plated 1.6mm aluminum shell drum is the beaded design with a round bead around its center, a design element found in several classic snare drums but sold at much higher prices than this excellent snare drum. The bead stiffens and strengthens the shell and also internally disperses the sound waves, adding to the great response of the drum.
