Featuring Tama's original edge design R.S.E. (Resonant Sound Edge), the Athenian has a beautiful, solid sound reminiscent of vintage brass snares. In addition, the hand crafted electrolytic plating shell finish gives it a stunning, unique appearance that has never been seen before.

Brass Shell
The sound of brass is especially warm and round among metal shells. The brass Warlord Athenian features TAMA's unique double-flanged "R.S.E.(Resonant Sound Edge)" for more projection and increased fatness.
Hand Finished
The concept behind the Warlord Collection snare drums is to offer drummers the highest level of quality not only in sound, but also design. This concept remains true with the "Athenian." To create the unique finish on this drum, well-trained craftsman hand-plate black nickel onto the shell. Generally, metals are plated by machine electrocoating, which is the process of soaking them in specially blended, electrified aqueous liquor. But with the Athenian, this process is well controlled by experienced craftsman at every step.
R.S.E. Resonant Sound Edge
The Athenian's "R.S.E. (Resonant Sound Edge)" is a unique bearing edge created by bending the shell's edge completely over into the shell, then welding it to the inner wall of the drum, forming an air chamber. This feature adds enhanced resonance to the drum's natural frequency range, thus creating additional tone and body.
