Stageworks ABS120 12" 2 Way Powered PA Cabinet

Equally at home at the local nightclub or the outdoor festival, this versatile powered speaker can do it all! Sporting a 12" woofer and a 2" driver along with a 1" compression driver handling the highs, the ABS120 cranks out a generous 200 watts of RMS power. Keeping with their tradition, Stageworks made versatility the key, giving it an XLR mic input (for use as a self contained PA) as well as 1/4" and RCA line inputs. It is equipped with mic and line input level controls, bass and treble levels, and a master volume. It's enclosed in a high-impact, indoor/outdoor ABS enclosure complete with intgrated handles, pole socket, and includes a set of legs to prop it up as a floor monitor.

I purchased these as an add-on to my exisiting PA setup for floor monitors. Then my yamaha PA blew out and I was forced to use these as my main PA for outdoor shows. These have proven to be very versitile as a main pa, floor monitors, and outdoor theater speakers (we threw a guitar hero/movie party with a projector and 12 foot screen outdoors)

I would recommend these as a good general purpose pa set up.

I purchased a pair of these in 8/06. They were bought to be used as stage/floor monitors in a small jazz combo. Because of the tame nature of the music, the speakers were not subjected to high SPL or abused in any way. At the time of purchase, [...] description of the product claimed the compression driver had a titanium diaphragm and an RMS rating of 100w with 200w Peak. The owners manual for the product makes the same claims. [...]. Within two months of purchase, I noticed the HF drivers had stopped working. As I live a great distance from [...], and in spite of the fact that I had purchased an extended warranty, I opened the cabinets in the hopes that perhaps a protection fuse to the HF drivers had merely blown. This is what I found:The HF drivers are cheap drivers made by Sworthy Audio Products in China. These are like [$] drivers. They do not have 2" titanium diaphragms (as was claimed [...]) but are 1.5" Phenolic. Per the driver manufacturers literature, they are rated at a mere 30w RMS. They have a freqency range of 5khz-18khz (manual claimed 22khz). One of the drivers had been crossthreaded when installed on the horn and a repair had been attempted using a huge bead of silicon sealant. Both voice coils were open. The fit, finish, and detail of the entire product was crude.As I did not want the product repaired using the same cheap components as replacements, I instead replaced them myself using high quality Selenium drivers that exceed the specs originally claimed by [...] Stageworks. With my repair/modifications, I am now happy with the performance of my new "custom" product. Unless you want to make the same repairs and improvements that I did to this product, I suggest that you save your money and buy something of higher quality like Mackey, Peavy, Carvin, or even Behringer.
