Fender Quality, Gibson Feel, Squier price. This guitar did not come set up at all. Do it yourself or take it to a tech. Plays great once it's set up. A real quality guitar.

You can't get better for the price that Sam Ash has these at. This is truly a [$] guitar that Fender miscalculated with; they tried to make a high end Squier and people just didn't buy the pricetag, I don't think Fender made enough to cover the cost of production to be honest. It's a set neck with high end pickups, that alone is worth the [$]. I bought an amber satin one but I'm thinking about forking over another [$] just to have two different colors

I've had this guitar for almost 2 years, and it's holding up great. No problems with the paint, wiring, neck, or body. I think its a set neck, not a bolt on. It's got 2 humbuckers. I got this m80 at the [...]NCWell, let's start with the pros. First of all, its got a great look, its fun to play, has some good equipment, [suits me...]pretty good for a budget axe, has got 2 Duncan Designed humbuckers and a 3 way pickup selector. great sound, BUT there is buzzing on the neck on every 5~6 frets. As with all guitars, the stock strings shouldn't be used for jamming, so change those fast. Get this as a backup axe, not your main one, because it'll fail sometime or another. The input jack'll fail you too, because you've really got to tighten that one. I'm saving up for an Epiphone G-400 SG to use as my main axe instead of this.

OK, OK,
I have now had my M-80 for about 4 months now,
and have gotten over my initial disappointment
with the little rascal ( please read Reality Check
Reality Check ). I have come to appreciate this
guitar for what it is. It will Not give you any
neo-twangy nasally bright sounds associated with
a Fender. It Will give you Great Raw Bluesy Gutsy
sounds in a heartbeat if you give it a chance.
I've learned to do that. Nuff Said.

Just got the guitar and hooked it up. Playability was awesome, Sound was Like that of a Les Paul (I own one) Neck was pretty smooth throughout and frets were good and smooth. String action was a little low on the lower strings, but, 1 and 1/2 turns on the adjustment screw and I was rockin! The neck seems to be a hair wider than that of a Fender, however the rosewood neck was nice and flat and that wider neck will be especially useful for someone with larger fingers. My hands are rather small but I had no trouble playing the guitar. I know some people really like a slim neck. Don't let this keep you from trying the M80. This is not enough of a problem to stop from buying. This is a great guitar for beginners as the string action would not rip their fingers apart and neither would the price on the pocketbook. A note to parents, before you waste your money on something from one of those retail stores, Explore the M80. Your child will be more apt to stick to the instrument as his/her fingers wouldn't hurt from the practice. This kills the desire in over 50% of all guitar player wannabes. I hope this review is helpful for anyone who is having trouble deciding on what guitar to buy. I bought a Squier Jazz Bass in 1984 and have been in love with Squier guitars ever since. I was looking for a practice and jamming guitar so I wouldn't have to play my Les Paul and I am happy to say that I would take the M80 anywhere I would use my Les Paul and probably to places I wouldn't Take my Les Paul. This guitar, for the money, is just about as good as it gets.
I have been playing for 40 years and I feel this guitar would be great for performances also. Let's face it, most people couldn't tell a Les Paul, from a Strat, from whatever guitar your playing, so, why play a $3500+ guitar for $100 a night. Play the M80 instead. If you are looking for the classic Fender Sound, then buy the original Squiers. If you want something with a lot more Umph! Then try the M80. The M80 would also be good for pop and jazz music as the pickups give it more of the traditional sounds, not the unmistakable sound of the strat or tele.
In a Nutshell, this guitar is good looking, easy to play, sounds great and very affordable for beginner and pro alike.

I still cannot believe the quality of this instrument! I bought it more as a backup, but it instantly became my main axe. The setup was nearly perfect straight from the factory. In fact, the samash sales representative said the same thing when we took it out of the box for inspection. The only thing I've changed is setting the intonation using a peterson strobe. The guitar is light-weight. Beautiful finish. Love the satin hardware. Pots are quiet, the duncan designed humbuckers scream.

Nice set neck guitar with nice wood and great fretboard. No buzzes or dead spots. Pickups are decent but I may eventually replace them. Guitar is well balanced and plays well. Suitable for advanced players if pickups replaced. Out of box a great electric guitar for beginners or intermediates.

I've been looking at the M-80, and reading allthe literature and reviews I could find on themfor about a year now. I wasn't sure if it wouldfit well with my playing technique after kickinit out with mostly "Strats" since I started playing back in 1965 (along with a few Ibanez"Strat" copies and one or two "Artists" models) When I noticed the prices dropping out of the$500 price range I became more interested in themodel. When the price dropped down to the $200level, I became Really Interested in them. Then about two months ago, one of the [...] had a very comprehensive photo arrayof the M-80 where I could really study the linesand construction of the guitar. [...]. Well I anxiously waited for five days and my newaquisition arrived. I furiously ripped the packing apart to get out my new prize. Shureenough, when I got it out, it was gorgeous tolook at. I had no doubts it would take some tweeking to have it set up to my standards ofperformance. They all do. I just didn't realizeat the moment, how extensive the "tweeking"would be. I new there had to be a reason thatguitar sold so cheaply, and I was soon to findout why. When I went to try to lower the string height,I found I couldn't because the adjusters were already bottomed out to the body of the guitar.I ended up grinding 3/32" away from the bottomof the bridge to fix that problem. Then I had to straighten the contour in the neck. Initially.020" relief at the 8th fret. When I went to change the strings, there was not a tight nut onany of the machine heads, or the volume and tonepots, or the pick-up toggle switch. Needless tosay what money I saved initially, was lost inaggravation. So here's a reality check for you. Not all M-80's deserve a glowing report. I wish I could saythey did.
