This would be the perfect bass for me except for the gloss finish on the neck. I prefer a satin finish- much more hospitable and comfortable. I wound up getting a Vintage Modified Squier P-Bass (Indonesian) which has a satin neck and a real nice Duncan license pickup for $279. It's white instead of Sonic Blue, but who cares. It's a monster for the money.

I've been ooooing and aawwwwing at this basses for a while now, especially the 50's one. That turned out to be all plasticy and flat so i kinda lost hope in 'em. Last month i went to Sam Ash and they had the two 60's basses in a big display. The Jazz felt good, but i didn't plug it in but i like just as much. When i tried the p bass out i fell in love with a squier. The really dug the colour (most don't) but would like to put a black pickguard on it. The sound and tone blew me away. The pickup knocks u out. Perfect for punk, rock, metal, regae, what ever you could hope for. And i just gotta say i love that bridge cover they put on it. Most places take it off but for some awesome reason they kept it on and i loved it more. Dudes, totally buy this thing. Its like a freaking Fender. Just great. Oh, and if the colour scares you off, don't worry coz they got a new one coming real soon in fiesta red with a tortoise shell pickguard. Gotta love it, gotta buy it.

I bought this as a funky backup P-BAss and something I could take on the airplane w/o worrying about ruining a pricey bass...it ended up being my go-to P-Bass! With flatwound strings, this bass sounds like a true 60s Precision with all the clear lows and punchy mids and well-spoken high end. If you don't buy this bass you will be missing out on what will truly go down in Fender's history as one of the good ones.

Not like any Squire I remember. This beast is SMOOTH!
I recently had a sit down with this baby as well as the Classic Vibe Jazz. I was blown away to say the least.
The neck and frets were top notch. The pickup they came up with for this version is PUNCHY! I LOVE it! Seriously in line with some of the aftermarket pickups. Fit and finish were on line with what you would expect from a bass in the higher price range. The color is way cool but I will bet that not everyone will dig it. Play one anyway. This is a ROCKIN' P-Bass.
