I WANTED A NEW MIC FOR SINGING LIVE SO I WENT TO MY LOCAL SAM ASH TOLD HIM WHAT I WANTED TO DO A A/B TEST TO FIND THE RIGHT MIC FOR ME I HAD HIM SET THE MIXER EQ FLAT AND NO EFFECTS I WANTED THE TRUEST TEST MY EARS COULD HEAR THE FIRST HE HANDED ME WAS A SM58 WISH MADE MY VOICE SOUND LIKE I WAS ON HELIUM NEXT A SEN. THEN A EV THIS WENT ON FOR 2 HOURS NOTHING JUST A WAST OF TIME SO I WENT THERE AGAIN ON SATURDAY AND TRIED 3 MORE MICS AUDIX AND OTHERS THEN I SAID DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING ELSE HE THEN SAID TRY THIS AND HANDED ME A SAMSON Q7 THIS MIC WAS WELL BUILT BUT THE BASS WAS OVERWHELMING SO HE SAID LETS TRY THE Q8 2 OF THEM HAD THE SAME HOLD YOUR NOSE SOUND TO ME THEN HE HANDED ME ANOTHER Q8 AND BAM!!! THE SOUND I WAS LOOKING FOR a natural sound crisp clear i then began my tests first was talking into the mic Cristal clear then i sang into the mic right on the grill and then 6 inches away no change then i yelled in it mouth to grill no distortion! i then talked on each side of it and dropped out to almost nothing the off axes clame samson said in the paper work was true the next test was handling noise it was vary low better the most mics. i taped the mic with my fingers and raped my hand around it next the plosives test the pu was vary low but the s present after finding this mic to give a true natural sound with vary little mic handling noise and provided a solid build i chose it over all others...

We were set on buying the Shure Beta58A for our daughter when we walked in to our local Sam Ash Store. The sales rep in the live sound dept. said hold on..
before you just go ahead and buy the Shure.
He said for female voices that this mic may sound better than the Shure and offered for us to compare it in the store with any of the mic's they had, We did, and he was correct! This mic sounds really good with a vocalist with great volume or dynamics
It has a certain smoothness that the beta58 didn't have, don't get me wrong, the beta58 sounded great, but it was a bit too brilliant in the mid-range and it had a better clarity than the SM58 the so called industry standard.

I would tell anyone to give it a test before you buy a mic in the under $200 price range

For the price, quality and construction
I would definitely recommend this mic... !!

Have had the same Q8's for the past 3 years. Not one problem. They have been slammed on the floor. Dropped on the floor. Not one glitch.
(Q7 broke on the first drop)
Buy the Q8 over the Q7 completely worth the extra money.

I ordered 11 Senn. E935 mics for a client and the salesman said' "the Q8 is just as good". He was so convinced that he included one in the deal... I A/B'd the two mics and the Senn. won so I threw the Q8 into my gig mic box. Recently on a "live" show the lead singer's wireless [*] out so I handed him the Q8 and a mic cord. HOLY SAMSON, BATMAN! With a little trim and EQ adjust this sucker was cuttin' thru the mix like hot knife thru BUTTA'! You'd be hard-pressed to find a better mic at this price point! Samson has hit HOMER on this one!

I couldn't believe when salesmen let me try 6 different brands simultaneously, This one stands out of the crowd, specially under $200 mics category. Sound is clear, powerful and smooth.You won't regret it. Recommended for live performances.

I just got this microphone for Christmas. It sounds warm, it picks up all of the sound, and it feels good. I would recommend it for anyone, especially just starting out musicians who don't want to spend too much but want a great mic.
