Samson Expedition XP510i Portable PA

The Samson Expedition 510i Portable PA System is sturdy yet lightweight and easy to set up and operate. It’s comprised of two 2-way speakers with custom 10” woofers and a 1” high frequency driver. They have a wide dynamic range and produce clear, loud, full-range audio that can fill up a small to medium sized venue with relative ease. The Expedition 510i’s power comes from the system’s full-featured 10 channel powered mixer. It stores neatly into the rear of one of the speakers and can be removed and placed on a table top. It features 500 watts (2 x 250) of chest kicking power, a perfect match for the speakers. It is a class D design that means it’s long on power yet light in weight. The mixer’s first four channels sport 4 XLR microphone inputs, as well as 4 mono ¼” jacks. Switchable phantom power is provided enabling the use of your condenser mics. Channels 5 through 10 feature ¼” stereo input jacks and 7 through 10 add a set of RCA connectors. The first 2 channels have a built-in limiter/compressor. It turns on at the touch of a button and provides quality signal processing, enabling you to smooth out the dynamic range of your voice or instrument with ease. This can really help place your vocal performances clearly out front of the music for increased intelligibility, enabling your audience to hear every word and note clear and precise. Each channel has high and low EQ enabling you to dial in the perfect frequency to enhance your signal. Rotary faders on each channel make it easy to adjust volume levels on the fly.

The built-in 24-bit DSP offer great quality effects for use on channels 1-4. There’s reverbs, delay and chorus settings, switchable for each of the channels. Rounding out the mixer’s features are L/R monitor output jacks with a dedicated level control, independent of the master volume control. You can send out a signal to a powered stage monitor or house mixing board. While the crowd hears you loud and clear, you’ll also benefit from hearing yourself in the throws of a heated performance. A stereo pair of RCA jacks allows you to connect to a recording device of your choice. This is a very handy feature, as it won’t tie up any of the other output jacks. There are a pair of ¼” speaker output jacks that easily connect right to the back of the speakers. Samson has even included high quality cables so you’re set to rock right out of the box!

Now for perhaps the coolest feature of all; there is a built-in iPod dock right on the top panel of the mixer! It’s compatible with most of the latest iPod models and provides a useful, easy way to play backing tracks or break music thus keeping all your inputs available for your mics and instruments. Brilliantly convenient! For metering, a six-segment bar meter shows the XP510i’s output level, easily readable even in dim-lit situations.
