Comments about Ibanez SR500 4 String Bass (Brown Mahogany):
Forty years ago I played rock. Didn't everyone? Had a couple good bands, lots of clunkers, but a lot of fun. Four years ago I decided to get back into it. I had always missed playing but there was always something more important to do with my money and my time. Walked in to Sam Ash to purchase a Fender Jazz, just like in the 60's. Sales guy tells me to try the SR500 before I decide. Never even heard of Ibanez! There was Fender, there was Gibson. This guitar is a sweet ride and runs through old pop, rock and blues like it was made just for that purpose. The electronics, wow, wish I had those forty years ago. From soft and mellow walks to clear and crisp slaps. For four years I have not had one single complaint. I own two now and am looking at the SR5000E as an upgrade. Am I also looking at Fender? What's a Fender?

Comments about Ibanez SR500 4 String Bass (Brown Mahogany):
What a great buy! For the money, you get the quality and sound of much more expensive rigs. The built in active electronics make this versitile... but I play mostly flat anyway. It's nice to play around with the sound variations available. Thin, fast neck is a dream to play. Mine came with Elixer strings, which I wouldn't have bought until I got to play them... they are awesome and durable. The only cons... 1. no "off" switch... the battery will die unexpecteldy... replace regularly so you don't die in the middle of that battle of the bands 2. mine has a couple frets on the D string that just have no sustain (9-11th frets). Notes sound ok, but just die off with no ring... not the strings or intonation??!?
Overall - go for it! You will not find this quality for this price anywhere!

Comments about Ibanez SR500 4 String Bass (Brown Mahogany):
"I had the chance to play one of these at samash the other day and it sounded great. the front pickup lies lower to give more clearance, and the neck makes it easy to quickly get to all the notes, even the high ones in which the body would usualy get in the way. it may not look like much, but a lot of the body styles that look cool ( like an ESP F bass ) are also less comfterable to play. so overall this is a great bass if you are used to the P style body.
