Electro-Voice SB122 12" High Excursion Subwoofer

The quest for an affordable subwoofer that is compact, lightweight AND powerful is finally over. Introducing the Electro-Voice SB122, quite possibly the smallest, most powerful subwoofer on the planet. Don’t let your eyes fool you into thinking this little sub can’t pound. Packing 400 watts continuous (1600W peak) in a diminutive 15kg (33lbs) package, the SB122 employs the new EVS12SB 12-inch long-excursion woofer for outstanding low frequency response.

Aesthetically, the SB122 sports a half-face grille with grille cloth, and a newly stylized EV logo. The rich feature set includes a top mounted pole cup, ergonomic carrying handle, large port, and a built-in low-pass filter that eliminates the need for external processing. Of course, external processing is still an option for professionals seeking greater overall system performance gains. And, with a price that makes it all seem too good to be true, SB122 is sure to make you rethink what a compact sub can be.

I have 2 SB122's running parallel running on a bridged Crown XLS 1500 with the low pass x-over @ 167 hz. PERFECT. They thump. light weight so i don't need help with set up. Sound Clear. I am a mobile DJ. they simply rock. they REPLACE my JBL MRX518. Bass is not as low, but with 2 they DEF compare.

I tried one, liked it, so I bought another. These little subs have phenominal output for their size and weight. They are very efficient compared to other small subs, by far the best in its class. I don't like the Neutrik connectors, but that's not that big of a problem. The built-in crossover is at 160Hz, and would be better at 80Hz for those not using an active crossover. These are not a problem for me. All in all, these are potent little money-makers that are most certainly worth their cost.

This is an exceptional product. Small, lightweight, and efficient, the SB122 is in a class by itself. Amazing output for its size and weight, and on a modest amount of power. The first time I hooked it up, I knew it was a keeper, and I ordered another the next day. For musicians using a tripod-mounted system, this is the next logical step to get the low end missing from cabinets in the air. Also, when the tripod-mounted boxes are relieved of the low end asked of them, the vocals become much cleaner. There's a 160Hz crossover in the SB122 (that I feel should be at 80Hz). This allows parallel connection to full-range speakers for those who don't have an actice crossover. The bottom line is that this is a killer little box. It gets the job done. It'll kick the $#!+ out of anything in its size/weight class. If you need a gigantic low end, buy gigantic boxes. If you just need some more low end for a small club rig, one or two of these will really surprise you. I have two now, and they're well worth the price for the performance that they offer in an easily manageable package. If you play in a band and use tripod-mounted PA cabinets with a 12" or 15" and a horn, you probably need at least one and maybe two of these. Once you hear them, you'll wonder how you got along without them all that time.
