Designed to meet and surpass the expectations of the most demanding musicians and engineers, the DS-90 Powered Monitors were created with the utmost attention to detail using custom-built discrete power amplifier circuitry, a bi-amplifier design and very high-quality components throughout. These two-way digital monitors incorporate a specially-designed 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter, employing a bass-reflex cabinet for resounding bass response. Onboard amplification includes a 60-watt amp for the woofer and a 30-watt amp for the tweeter, using a fourth-order active crossover. Speakers are driven directly by the specially-tuned amps, and speaker response characteristics can be completely adjusted via HF and LF controls on the rear of the monitor to best suit the acoustics of any setting. Their ultra-flat fre-quency response characteristics and ample bass make the DS-90's the perfect nearfield monitoring partners not only for VS/VM recording products, but for a variety of profes-sional studio applications and setups.

Thanks to their digital inputs with superb 24-bit D/A conversion and a completely custom design, the DS-90 Powered Monitors really excel when paired with Roland's VS-Series workstations and VM-Series mixers. With these digital monitors, VS/VM-Series users gain an all-digital production environment, from recording to effects processing, mixing and reference monitoring. In short, once an analog signal enters the VS workstation's first A/D converter, the next conversion doesn't happen until the sound hits the speaker; there's no unnecessary conversion or multiple re-conversions to detract from the overall sound quality. And there's no need to deal with noisy analog cables, patch bays, or routing headaches. Of course, for those who prefer to work in the analog or analog/digital world, the DS-90's also include standard XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs, making them perfect for a variety of settings.
