I use both the PR12 and PR15 speakers for my live shows and for DJ shows. I use the 12's for smaller shows and for lager shows I put a pair of 12's on stands and a pair of 15's on the floor. My main power source is a Mackie 808s. When you use 4 speakers and drop it to 4 ohms per side, it will fill most rooms and I do shows for 500 to 600 people during season. The PR series HAS some drawbacks. 1) the peavey emblems are hot glued on, when you buy the speaker take them off because they will rattle! 2)The bass response isn't as good as a wood box would be.....DUH!!! How many "Sugar scoop" type bass bins have you seen made out of plastic?? I have used Peavey speakers for years and even had a writeup in 1991 in Monitor magazine talking about durability in Peavey equipment. in short...Bullet proof speaker....want more bass?? TURN IT UP. Need more volume?? TURN IT UP!! Still can't get the punch??? BUY A DECENT AMP! These are PEAVEY speakers and can take the abuse! 3)ok this is a BIG BIG drawback of both the PR12's and the PR15's THE TOP HAS A SLANT!!! STUPID-DA**-DUMB- IDEA!!! You can't stack them on the floor, you can't set a drink on one(you shouldn't set a drink on a speaker anyhow, but for those who do) and you can't mount anything on top of them like lights etc. All in all I give this speaker about an A- ONE MORE THING!! EVERY and I mean EVERY screw should be tightend at least once a year. I thought I had blown a speaker but in reality the screws holding the woofer in had come loose.

While you won't replicate the kind of bass that rattles trunk lids on ghetto cruisers or pulvarize kidney stones, if your audience is the kind that doesn't dance like dogs humping, with the proper mix the bass is just fine. I've just DJ'd two big rooms and the speakers delivered.

I bought these initially for a weekly karaoke show like the poster above. I powered them with a Mackie 406m powered mixer. The sound was crystal clear compared to the Yamahas I used before it. The highs are so crisp I had to run them flat on the EQ. These do take a little bit of finesse when eqing them. Do not expect a lot of bass out of these. They were not made for that. If you need bass, get the PR sub or maybe even two to go with them. You will thank me later. I now use this setup with subs as my wedding system. It sounds fantastic and has yet to let me down.

I am a huge fan of Peavey's gear and i use this stuff on a regular basis [ I do karaoke / Djing 4 days a week[ my job], and play in a band on weekends] so when i bought these[2] PR12'S i was going to use them for karaoke at a couple of extra clubs[very small venues] that i just signed on to start doing on a weekly basis, so i thought that these PR12'S would be ideal,light resonably priced speaker that i could easily lift to put on stands[ and not have to lug my SP-3's around]...These are the only Peavey product that i have ever owned that let me down, the sound was flat, no Bass action at all,and they made my Karaoke singers sound terrible. I am still a loyal Peavey user but, these aren't good, Peavey should redesign them or get rid of them....
