Tama Octobans are tuned tom toms that can be grouped into tuned sets of eight for a full melodic octave. This 2 piece black Octoban set, which comes complete with a stand, is a great way to start toward the full octave.
One of Tama's first original instruments, Tama Octobans have been played by progressive players from Simon Phillips to Stewart Copeland to Mike Portnoy. It's the length of the shells and not the diameter of the drums that accounts for pitch. The shells are 6" in diameter.
