Muse Research Receptor C VST Plug In Sound Module

Receptor is a 2U rackmountable synth/sampler/drum module that runs software virtual instruments and effects. The new UniWire plugins for Receptor allow it to connect vie ethernet and run as a “DSP hardware accelerator" for your computer sequencer/DAW of choice (Cubase, DP, Pro Tools, Logic, Live, etc.)! Imagine attaching multiple Receptors via an ethernet switch. You'll never max out the CPUs on your DAW ever again!

Each Receptor can play 16 simultaneous audio sources, which can be either virtual instruments or external analog/digital inputs. It also has 57 virtual effects slots/inserts. You can also unplug it from the computer and use it live. Your keyboard player can run a virtual synth rack plus effects. Your guitar player can route through Receptor using Guitar Rig or Amplitube. Using MIDI drum triggers, the drummer is firing sounds from Native Instruments’ Battery, fxpansion BFD, Spectrasonics' Stylus RMX or Toontrack DFH Superior. And the vocalist can use some high-end studio-quality reverb and delay processing - all through one Receptor at the same time!

Receptor's intuitive, mixer-like architecture combines up to 16 different audio sources, which can be either internal VSTi instruments or external analog/digital inputs. Each source is then routed through its own inline effects matrix that allows three VST plugins to be configured in every possible parallel/series arrangement.

From there, each source is sent to a dedicated mixer channel, where the sound can be further processed by sending it to two dedicated effects busses, each with another fully configurable VST effects matrix. Need more processing? There is yet another VST effects matrix on the master output, for mastering and sweetening effects. In all, Receptor provides architectural support for as many as 16 simultaneous VSTi instruments and 57 VST effects, while further offering the ability to process external inputs using its front-panel high-Z input, its rear-panel balanced analog inputs, or its S/PDIF digital input.

And, all this effects power can be harnessed through Receptor's intuitive front-panel interface, with full front panel and MIDI access to millions of internal patch locations. For those who prefer mice to buttons, you can connect a mouse, keyboard and monitor directly to Receptor, or you can network it to your Mac or PC and control it remotely from a window on that machine.

In short, Receptor is the ultimate hardware solution for a software crazy world.

NOTE: The plugins will need to have a Windows version available, which appears to be true of 99.99% of the VST plugins currently on the market. If it is available in Windows format, then chances are the developer also offers a cross-grade option as previously described. You may have to re-register with the software developer, but it's fairly painless.
