The Mapex Black Panther Retrosonic gives every drummer the opportunity to have a snare capable of having that vintage sound but built with modern features in order to function in the modern music world. The beautiful smooth sound has it's roots in the 14" x 5.5", 8.1mm pure Walnut shell. The outer walnut ply is only slightly finished so as to let the shell speak to the fullest.
Addiitonal features include the Mapex Sonic Saver 2.3mm hoops. These hoops reduce the shock felt by your hands when doing rim shots and cross sticking. The Mapex piston style strainer and butt plate are smooth and very quiet. Both strainer and butt plate tuning knobs are notched so your snare tensioning is more accurate.
