I have been a musician for most of my life. I have used this type of stand in many places over the years. I first used one in my Elementary School string orchestra.
I bought it just yesterday, and it is a significant upgrade from my older stand of far less quality and durability. There is nothing bad about it. It is the most heavy duty stand I have ever owned. I plan to use it when playing my harmonicas, violin and cello.

I was looking for the ubiquitous music stand used by symphonies, school bands etc. This is it! [...]A solid, no frills stand that you can put big books on with no problem or worry about tipping. Powder black finish is nice. One minor problem with the base. There was casting overrun where the support attaches to the base. I had to file this off before I could assemble the stand. Only took a couple of seconds with a dremel tool. But to be perfect, this should have fit together out of the box. Otherwise, a great product.
