M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R 8x8 USB2 Rack-Mount Audio Interface
Designed to take advantage of the latest high-speed USB 2.0 protocol, The M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R is a high-speed 8 x 8, 24-bit/96kHz-premium quality USB 2.0 recording interface. Compatible with most DAW software, this package gives you everything you need to record and deliver professional quality audio with your computer.
Hookup is easy using just a single USB cable from the Fast Track Ultra 8R to your Mac or PC. The super fast USB 2.0 allows you to record 8 tracks simultaneously.
Starting with the front panel of the single rack-space Fast Track Ultra 8r you’ll find 8 mic gain knobs that control the professional quality, low noise microphone preamps located around the back which are based on M-Audio’s award winning Octane preamp technology. These clear sounding, hi-gain preamps deliver outstanding audio quality and are on par with mic pres costing much more.
The first 2 channels feature a ¼” instrument inputs on the front panel with -20dB pads. There’s +48V phantom power for all 8 preamps (switchable in 2 pairs of 4 each) to power your valuable condenser mics. All channels have a -20dB pad alongside signal/clip LED indicator lights.
Just over to the right of the front panel channels is the phantom power indicator and two ¼” headphone inputs with their own dedicated volume knobs and the main output level knob. Above that are MIDI I/O indicator lights. A “Power ” light lets you know when you’re up and running and rounds out the front panel features. All knobs and buttons are laid out in a logical, ergonomic manner making the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R super easy to navigate.
Around the rear of the unit you’ll find the 8 balanced TRS mic/line inputs in the form of Neutrik combo connectors. There are eight ¼” line outputs, a USB 2.0 port, 9V DC input, and SPDIF and MIDI i/o via the included breakout cable and 2 dedicated channel inserts allowing you to insert outboard processing before you hit the A/D conversion.
Built into the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra is MX Core DSP technology. The virtual mixer provides a matrix for sophisticated channel routing options while also providing reverb and delay on the headphone outputs. This frees up your computer from additional processing during the tracking process so vocalists and guitarists can monitor themselves with effects, often inspiring spirited performances, and thus cutting down on monitoring latency.
