Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar with Gibson Hardshell Case
The Gibson Les Paul Studio is everything a great studio musician could want in a guitar, but in a clean no frills design at a very attractive price. Everything you want in a Les Paul is here in the Les Paul Studio: select premium woods, fine Gibson USA craftsmanship, Gibson's most popular humbucking pickups, Tune-o-Matic Bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, Gibson Limited Lifetime Warranty, and a formfitting Gibson hardshell case. You sacrifice only the frills like bindings and the inlayed logo at the headstock to achieve a remarkable value in a fine guitar. Gibson Les Paul Studio Body The Les Paul Studio Body has a chambered mahogany body capped with a solid maple top. Dense woods are key to the famous Les Paul tone and long sustain -- the Les Paul Studio is no exception. However, dense woods can mean a heavy guitar. So to give the Les Paul Studio guitar light weight for long comfortable hours of playing, Gibson uses its Computer Numeric Controlled Router to carve out strategically placed chambers keeping perfect balance and giving the guitar great resonance. Combining rosewood with a maple top gives the Les Paul Studio the same composition as Les Paul Standards of the past 60 years. All this is hand finished in beautiful gloss nitrocellulose lacquer that lets the wood breathe and provides better resonance than less expensive finishes. Gibson’s 490R and 498T Pickups The Les Paul Studio pickups are designed for the traditional characteristics of the Gibson 1950s PAF pickups. Wax potting eliminates air space in the pickup reducing the chance of feedback. The 490R pickup at the neck position uses Alnico II magnets and has an improved upper mid range response. At the bridge position you will find the 498T pickup. It is overwound and has a more powerful Alnico V magnet making it hotter with more midrange and highs. The 498T pole pieces are spaced a bit farther apart to accomodate the distance between strings at the bridge position. Neck, Headstock, and Fingerboard The Les Paul Studio neck is made from solid mahogany glued to the body in a mortis and tenon joint that makes the neck and body act as one solid unit. This yields a stronger neck and body with great resonance, tone, and the excellent sustain that Les Pauls are known for. The Les Paul Studio neck profile is the thicker, rounder shape of the 1958 and 1959 Les Paul Standards reknowned for comfort and playability. The neck includes the traditional Gibson truss rod and the traditional 17 degree headstock angle common to nearly all Les Pauls. After the fingerboard is applied the neck is hand finished by Gibson's expert luthiers. The 12 inch radius fingerboard is made of the finest rosewood, or in the case of the Alpine White model, the finest ebony with trapezoid acrylic inlays. It has 22 medium jumbo frets, immaculately dressed and polishied for easy string bending and a Corian nut cut with the PLEK system for precise fit.
