Jupiter has equipped the 590 Quad Valve University model large bore sousaphone with four valves. Taking a lesson from the concert tuba, four valves provide a more exacting intonation than three valves - even if the fourth valve is not utilized and the sousaphone is played using three valves at its most basic level.
