I traded down from a Modulus Quantum 6 bass for the Ibanez and have never regretted it. The 506 was much easier on my hands, has a better tone, and has every bit as much stability and sustain as my old bass for 1/8 the price. I play everything from church gigs to big band, rock, jazz, country, funk, r&b, and shows, and this bass can handle them all. The neck is extremely stable, and the bass has plenty of sustain. The neck is thin and comfortable, and I can play for hours without wearing out my hands. The low, low action is great for technical playing; it's not the best bass for slap, though. It does go through a fair number of batteries, but it's not a real problem. For versatility and remarkable construction in an inexpensive 6-string, this bass is unbeatable.

I bought this bass in December 2008. I've not been completely satisfied with it yet. The first time I plugged it in the output jack was making popping sounds when my cable would move slightly. Replaced the jack - problem solved. The tone of the bass was kind of dead, so I replaced the factory strings with a set of Thomastik-Infeld's. It helped a little bit, but this is the second Ibanez SR I have owned with these Bartolini soap bar pick-ups and I just don't like their tones. I have a '94-'95 Ibanez SR 4-string bass that I have owned since '94-'95. It has EMG pick-ups and they sound great. That is one bass I will never part with. As far as this 6-string goes, I can't get the tone to be what I want. Ibanez makes good products for low prices. But I've learned over the years that the more expensive basses are more expensive for a reason. You get what you pay for.

i bought this bass approx. 2-3 yrs ago now. I tried a few 6 string basses before i purchased this, and none was so complete: its light weight, great tones, slim neck, easy adjustable bridge, frets are nice at close if you like to ru up an down the bass but not to close, bodies not big and bulky, delivers any choice of tone. I play live and practice weekly and its perfect for all musical situations. It amaizes all other bass players and everytime someone has a go on it they never want to put it down. p.s. my string formation - B e a d g C

I have recently gotten time to sit down and try out a few basses at my local Sam Ash. I was looking for a bit and saw this beauty. I must have been playing her a good solid hour, exploring every aspect and trying every possible tone possible. This bass is an extraordinary bass for it's price. The only problem I encountered was the low B string would hit the board if plucked to hard, easily fixed if you buy a higher gauge string.

This is my first six-string bass, and with this quality, I'm thinking it will be my last as well! I made the transition from 4 to 6-strings on this bass, and love the feel of the slim neck. Very good choice for the beginner bassist who is looking for an inexpensive 6-string, but really wants quality too. The electronics are wonderful, give beautiful tone, great versatility. I play things from classical to rock to metal on this bass, it does it all well. I have owned this bass a little over a year and still love it. This bass couldn't be better for the price.

I bought the SR506 as a backup for my Tobias 6 string and now I find myself not being able to put it down. I have dialed in so many tones from Ken Smith to other high end basses that it is unreal that a $[...] bass has such feel and output. It just doesn't have a high gloss or finish. It doesn't need it because sound output is what serious bassists want and this bass gives just that. Go out to a dealer or music store and try one. The rest is history because you will be writing a review also. Read all the reviews on this bass on several sites and determine for yourself if you are willing to try one.[...]Why spend $1500 to $5,000 for other high end basses when this will get the job done.

I've owned this bass since July of 2004. I love the sound and everything about this bass. I tune beginning with A and it holds every bit off bottom that I give it. This is a perfect buy for a reasonable price!!!!!
