Hartke VX3500 Bass Combo Amplifier

The VX3500 combo combines the classic Hartke 3500 head with a high frequency driver centered in a 4x10 VX speaker array. This 350 Watt combo features selectable tube or solid state preamp, adjustable compression, bass and treble contour control and a 10 band graphic EQ.

Solid braced cabinet construction, recessed side handles, and heavy duty casters.

A great deal of research and development went into the design of the VX Series speakers. The cones are made of a specially treated extremely ridged paper material, with impregnated fabric surrounds, matched for maximum output and plenty of headroom. Each cabinet has a proprietary design horn-loaded high frequency driver that further accentuates the mids and highs Hartke users demand. The rugged plywood cabinets have protective corners and ergonomic handles. WARRANTY 3 years parts and labor.

So, bought this amp with very high expectations of it being a "decent" rig. Not Great, but "decent". I could not be more wrong. This is the second one that has died on me in ONE YEAR!!! Yes, died. After doing a little research on this, I have found out that Hartke has issues with the soldier welds within the head. This is especially a known issue with this model. Very, Very dissappointed. I am actually taking the second dead one back to Sam Ash today and getting something NOT HARTKE...

The wheels are bit small. I've moved bigger and heavier amps with less rumbling on rough surfaces. The commpression (when on) seems to have a slight delay that can make a pop noise so I equalize it to not need it on. I had to adjust the high end of the equalizer while the drums where playing in order to hear high notes when playing with the band. With some freinds we compared a 600W Ampeg and this Hartke, and the Hartke was a lot louder. This amp does not lack power if you want to wake up the neighborhood this will work.

I've had my hartke vx3500 since 2005, and just recently it started making a low, buzzing sound that another reviewer pointed out. I thought it was my input jack or my bass, but that isn't the case, as it turns out. About a year ago, I had to replace some blown speakers. I just wanted something that was a little more portable. Its been more of a problem than it has been a solution. Honestly, though, it's really powerful, and it can be played for for a crowd of about 250-350 people. The first year I owned it, it was awesome. Exactly what I needed. It has a sturdy build, sounded good, and extremely portable. My friend owns one, though, and his is just fine. I don't get it. Maybe mine's a dud?

With the EQ I could really get that warm treble sound, Slapping and popping sounds great! I thought I was playing a half stack when I notice it had no head! And most of all it's Silent, no Hums or Buzzing!

This has got to be the best combo for the money!
I have been playing for almost 6 years and i have never really owned my own bass amp! because i was always been provided with equipment where ever i performed, usually SWR equipment! But swr's tone doesnt even come close to this! i fist perchesd an ampeg, the tone was awsome but lacked power! so i got the hartke vx3500! great tone! POWER, optinons like solid state or tube! the tube sound in this sounds soo warm and fuzzy! really realiable! built like a tank!

I first bought this amp and it was awesome....that was soon too change when i noticed that it was buzzing really loud on the top left speaker on every note played.....So I Returned it only to find out the second amp would do the same but in a more subtle matter....im on my third amp of this same kind....so we'll see.....but other than the problems... its great, lots of options...for the money....hope you have better luck than i do with it.
