Well I've been playing the guitar for a long time now and this past Christmas I got this drum set. Let me first start off by saying I was a little skeptical when I took the drums out of the box and put them together not knowing anything about tuning or muffling. I did my research and I tuned my toms, and bass drum to a very nice tone each. I still got a lot of reverb when I hit them though, so for the kick drum I through a towel inside to get that "thump" I'd wanted and I threw a small rag over my snare to control all the reverb there. The toms I recommend you get these things called Moongel pads or something, like the sticky hands they sell at the markets. These things saved me, I knew I had tuned to a pitch I could work with but the reverb was just everywhere and uncontrollable, so be sure to muffle. The pedal that came with the kick was alright, it does bounce a lot if you hit it hard. The hi-hats sound really good, so I recommend you keep them. They have a nice closed "click" sound and a nice open sizzle as well. The only thing I had to get rid of was the horrible crash. I swear you can hit it and no sound will come out, even as a ride it is really bad. I went out and bought a Paist 16' bronze series crash, which I am really happy with now. I play stuff like Black Keys, Blue Cheer, Electric Wizard, Acdc, Weedeater, etc. Again, I am a novice and I am teaching myself, but this is definitely worth the cash, doesn't have to be name brand or any big. This kit can sound great if you take the time to work with it.

ive owned this set for about four weeks now. They really are good. the only bad thing is the crash ride isn't so good the hi hats are exceptional. Keep a lil money for it later for (maybe) a new snare drum head, crash cymbal, and a throne my total cost for everything was [$] zildjian zbt cymbal 16'crash, ht25 tama 13' throne remo 14 inch black batter . this set is awesome buy it.

I was looking for a beginner drumset. I didn't want to spend alot because I didn't know if I would stick to this new hobby. I think the drums are just fine. They sound good to me and I'm quickly learning. The salesman was very forthcoming in the fact that the cymbals were awful, so I took into consideration that I might need to replace them in my purchace price. Dude wasn't kidding about the cymbals they don't sound trashy..they are complete garbage. So now I'm looking for replacement cymbals. But I am am comfortable playing on this set and I'm very excited about improving my skills. I would sugest this set to any beginner. Because it comes including hardware the afordability of this set should allow them to upgrade the cymbals.

We bought this for our son for Christmas and it is a great starter set. Reverb on the base is horrible we'll tweek it to make it better. Crash is very flat we will replace it. Hi hats are fine. Snare and toms are good. Definently a beginner set. Will be great for practice but I definently won't be taking it places for him to use.

I bought this set for my son who just started playing,it's not a lot of expense compared to other sets with less parts. He loves them, they sound pretty good and being upgradeable he not only practices every day he is really getting into looking for new bells and whistles to add to this set.

i am just learning the drumms and bought this set for myself, the drums sound great and seem to be well built, i cant tell a difference between my GPs and a set of pearls iv played on,the cymbols are not the best, you can play the hi-hat but i had to replace my crash imidiatly,it sounds like someone is always hloding onto it....overall, after all the shoping around i did this was the best buy out there.
